Alexandra Burke is amazing on the mic and is proving equally as arresting on the dance-floor.

The Brit-belter, who rose to fame as the winner of The X Factor after performing with Beyonce, is currently competing on the current series of the BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing.’

Much like the US’ ‘Dancing With The Stars,’ the series sees celebrities battle it out each week in a quest for the coveted ballroom trophy.

Oft commanding an audience of 10 million + each week, the show is renown for being a potent promotional platform and the real “win” tends to be for competitors careers.

With Alex readying new material, it’s smart timing. Especially as she’s slaying!

After winning over fans with their critically acclaimed 2012 remake of the iconic film, ‘Steel Magnolias,’ Grammy-winning stars Jill Scott and Queen Latifah are teaming up with Lifetime again – this time to shed light on the ongoing water crisis in Flint, Michigan.

As fans recall, pop icon Cher was originally attached as the film’s star and executive producer, but cited “family issues” as her reasons for pulling out.  Never to worry, Scott and Latifah have carried the torch in her stead with the film now titled ‘Flint.’  And, if the heart-tugging trailers are anything to judge by, they exceeded every expectation.

Taking a brief break from her State Of The World Tour, Janet and brother Randy stopped by Roosevelt High School and sat down for a Q&A with students and staff.

Welcome to another edition of Retro Rewind, the TGJ original feature carved out to celebrate TV and Film’s brilliant past.

What we’re highlighting today? ‘Boomerang’, the Eddie Murphy which soared on the wings of Grace Jones, Eartha Kitt, Halle Berry, Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, David Alan Grier and more.

A hilarious comedy, the project was born out of Murphy’s desire to celebrate the diversity of African-American culture and showcase talent shunned by a diversity-shy industry.
