In news that should come as a shock to no one, last week saw Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey recapture the #1 spot on the Billboard Holiday charts with her timeless hit, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You.’  The tune – which still stands as the pop icon’s best-selling international single to date – was ranked by Billboard as the most popular holiday release in history.  Now, as the song restarts its usual yuletide domination, Carey’s looking to add another memorable number to her already extensive list of Christmas classics.

Titled ‘Lil Snowman,’ the 50’s-inspired cut is featured on the official soundtrack to the animated holiday film conveniently titled, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You.’  Does it pack enough punch to stand alongside the powerhouse singer’s other holiday-flavored offerings?

Being the year’s breakout star is no easy task.   Just ask Cardi B;  the rising rapstress – who recently made Billboard history for rocking the R&B/Hip-Hop charts with three songs simultaneously (‘MotorSport,’ ‘No Limit,’ and ‘Bodak Yellow’) – is seeing her success narrative check off just as many personal milestones as she is professional heights it seems.

The latest proof of this comes as the reality starlet is found a-front the latest cover of ‘New York Magazine.’  The Bronx beauty took to Twitter to beam about the accomplishment:

Join us as we celebrate two decades of a group that will forever be etched in music’s DNA. Today’s pick was released exactly 20 years ago and hasn’t aged. It’s Destiny’s Child’s ‘No, No, No (Part 2).’

Originally conceived as slow jam, the classic incarnation of the track came in its remixed format courtesy of Fugees alum, Wyclef Jean – who was also a guest rapper on the track.

The single was the band’s first of many chart hits, peaking at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and claiming the top spot of the Hip-Hop/R&B tally in the US. It reached the Top 5 in the UK. Pretty amazing for a debut single.

************

Darren Grant directed the song’s visual. Ironically, in the clip, the girls look like a truly seasoned act – which in a way was the case considering the intensive training they’d been through with Mathew Knowles.

Operating at swag level 100, DC’s original line-up (comprised of Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett, and LaTavia Roberson) showcased that special something that kept this from being yet just another music video.

This week we’re not only celebrating two decades of ‘No, No, No,’ but 20 years of Destiny’s Child as a band and how their presence has changed music history forever.

From their work as a group to their solo endeavors, the ladies of DC have continued to set new standards and we’re confident that’s a trend that won’t be stopping anytime soon.

Needless to say, if and when they’re ready for a reunion, the world will chant in unison “Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah”!
