In an EXCLUSIVE interview with That Grape Juice, the superstar opened up about the set, which she revealed has been five years in the making.

Thus far, fans have tasted the LP by way of singles such as ‘How We Roll’ with Chris Brown and scintillating slow jam, ‘Ecstasy,’  which has gone all sorts of viral thanks to the singer’s racy chair routine in its accompanying music video.

Speaking with TGJ’s Founding Editor Sam, Ciara dished on what listeners can expect from the record at large, taking charge as an independent act, touring plans, and much more.

After a brief rest on the bench, That Grape Juice‘s From The Vault is back – celebrating music gems of both the beloved and underrated variety.

And this time, we’re toasting a Chanté Moore gem, ‘Straight Up.’

Released in 2000, the uptempo track was produced by Jermaine Dupri, who also featured on the track. Bryan-Michael Cox co-wrote the cut with Dupri and Lil Mo.

Renowned for her stirring midtempos and soaring ballads, the infectious cut saw Moore turn up the tempo like never before.

Emblematic of the Y2K era’s penchant for BPM-driven uptempos, the hook-heavy earworm was paired with a dynamic, choreography-led music video.

Serving as the centerpiece of Moore’s fourth studio album, ‘Exposed,’ the track wasn’t the smash perhaps hoped for on home soil.

However, ‘Straight Up’ did find its greatest success on international shores, peaking at #11 in the UK, #13 in Belgium, and #22 in France.

In the years since its release, the song’s popularity has endured and continued to grow on the streaming scene. Indeed, as of writing, it has racked up over 10.7 million streams on Spotify alone.

A testament to its status as a certified bop.
