As a judge on reality singing competitions and part of the creative force behind R&B quintet June’s Diary, singer Kelly Rowland has never been shy to express her love for girl groups, a fact undoubtedly birthed from her own introduction to the spotlight as 1/4th of the top-selling group Destiny’s Child.  The quartet (and later trio), survivors (all pun intended) of an unexpected lineup change themselves, served as proof that the show can truly go on in the absence or replacement of a founding member.

That lesson is one popular Urban pop group Fifth Harmony is currently learning.  Having just released ‘Fifth Harmony:  the Album,’  their first LP sans original member Camila Cabello, the ladies expressed worry that their fans, affectionately called #Harmonizers, would not accept them as a foursome.

Those worries were eased when none other than Rowland herself provided some much needed advice and emotional support:

Cop a gander of Alicia Keys!

The 15-time Grammy winner rocks her new flame-colored braids on the cover of ELLE Brasil.

Appearing on four covers, the feature sees Keys continue to spread her message of self-acceptance; one she’s been pushing by ditching make-up.

She drives home her point on the covers with the tag-lines “Be Cool,”“Be Yourself,” “Be Strong,” and “Be Real” respectively.

It’s been a year since she released her last album ‘HERE,’ which didn’t perform well.

Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.

So, just as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’ allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature Chart Rewind – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.

This week we’d like to press play on ‘My Love Is Like Wo,’ the lead single from R&B beauty Mya‘s third LP ‘Moodring’ (read our ode to the full LP by clicking here).  After teaming up with Missy Elliott for the chart-topping single ‘Lady Marmalade’ (alongside Christina Aguilera, P!nk, and Lil Kim), Mya called on Miss’s assistance again for her follow-up solo project.

The first offering from that set, ‘Wo’ – with its highly stylized, one woman show of a video (directed by ‘Marmalade’ director Paul Hunter) – got some serious love on the R&B charts and eventually Hot 100.  Peaking at #13 on the the latter this week in 2003, the song would stay there for three additional weeks before its descending off charts.

Going on to remain a fan favorite from Mya’s discography, relive the kick ass choreo below and see who joined her in the top 25 this week 14 years ago:

Mark those calendars because ‘Empire’ returns to FOX on September 27th!

The Lee Daniels music drama is strutting into its fourth season and is re-affixing its focus to central characters – The Lyon family.

According to producers, that means less spotlight on guest stars.

Speaking on the much-needed shift, Daniels recently said:

“When we start to focus too much on guest stars we lose who it is that the fans want to watch,” Daniels says, noting he pays attention to what the audience of the show is saying about the show. “They’re obsessed with the Lyons. They’re obsessed with family. They’re obsessed with the story of Lucious and Cookie and Jamal and Andre and Hakeem.”

To add an exclamation mark, FOX have unleashed a titillating trailer. Check it out below…
