There’s no doubt about it, The Weeknd has become the Pop prince to beat.
Gliding above a number of rivals by way of his critically-approved material and pure sales, the performer now celebrates news which solidifies his status as one of the decade’s biggest success stories.
What it is?
His LP ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’ has spent 100 consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 after impacting last week’s chart at #76.
Kylie Jenner is ready to rival the likes of Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and her former love rival/sister-in-law Blac Chyna by launching her very own Pop career.
It’s been a long time since a song inspired a ‘yaaaaaasssss’ in our spirit, but one listen to Ledisi‘s new single, ‘Add to Me,’ changed that – quickly.
The DJ Camper-produced cut – the latest lifted from the singer’s highly anticipated 9th studio effort, ‘Let Love Rule’ – comes as a bop of a call for the fellas to step their game all the way up. Making its way to the net as its predecessor, ‘High,’ continues its upward climb on Urban charts, ‘Add To Me’ has only added to the long list of reasons we can’t wait to get our hands and ears on Lady L’s forthcoming project (in stores September 22).
In the month since its release, ‘Tone It Down’ – the latest collabo between rapper Gucci Mane and R&B bad boy Chris Brown – has failed to impact the Billboard Hot 100. Peaking right outside of the tally at the top of the Bubbling Under charts, the duo are looking to change its fate by unveiling its long-awaited music video.
For the flute-driven track’s official visual, the duo turned to Eif Rivera to direct. Set in an Asian nightclub of sorts, Breezy takes to the stage to show off some fancy footwork while Gucci spits his bars from a nearby throne.
Will it be enough to hoist the Cardiak & Hitmaka-produced ‘Down’ up the charts? We sure hope so. See it inside:
This week’s From The Vault salutes the ladies of TLC this week. Our pick is 2002’s ‘Girl Talk.’
The feisty track was issued as the lead single from the group’s fourth studio album ‘3D,’ which served as their first following the passing of member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.
‘Talk’ saw the trio press on with the female-empowering / male-bashing formula that made songs such as ‘No Scrubs’ and Destiny’s Child’s ‘Bug A Boo’ such towering hits. This time, TLC were putting men up on game about their need to bring their A-game or run risk of having their tea spilt. An unreleased Left Eye rap is featured in the song as it was the case with half of the album.
Penned by Kandi Burruss alongside Lopes and fellow member T-Boz, the track was a moderate(ish) hit in the US where it peaked at #28 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #23 on the Hip-Hop/R&B tally. It earned the R&B outfit another UK Top 30 too.
The mighty Dave Meyers was tapped to direct the track’s visual. Surviving members T-Boz and Chilli are seen “girl-talking” in the Dirty South, Tokyo and Africa. Boasting trademark TLC choreography. Midway through the video, the three members are reunited thanks to an animated film during Left Eye’s rap.

With the ladies having just released their last album, it’s interesting to reflect on how strong their catalogue is. It still saddens us when we ponder all the amazing places their careers – as a group and solo acts – could have gone if Lisa was still with us today.
Still, no matter how the story goes, their names are etched in the history books forever and we’re elated to have lived in a world where TLC were the blueprint for everything crazy, sexy and cool in music and culture.
As delayed albums go, few are as late as Fergie‘s ‘Double Dutchess.’
Remarkably, the LP has been earmarked for release as far back as 2014 when its lead single ‘L.A Love (La La)’ burned up the airwaves.
Three years on and still no project.
In the time since, the Black Eyed Peas front-woman has rolled out a series of singles and more recently announced her departure from Interscope and the formation of her own label. Word on the curb is that an early version of the album leaked. But we digress…
Looking to jump-start her campaign again, Fergie-Ferg has unwrapped a series of visual teasers.
Serena Williams and fiancé Alexis Ohanian are due to welcome their first child together any day now.
To celebrate their incoming bundle of joy, an elaborate baby shower was thrown for the tennis ace today in LA.
Joined by superstar sister Venus, Serena was also surrounded by her close knit group of famous friends including Ciara, Kelly Rowland, and LaLa at the 50’s-themed bash.
June’s Diary earned praise aplenty for their recently released concept mixtape ‘Male Edition.’
Now, the soulful quintet are pressing on with producing all new material of their own.
The group – comprised of Kristal, Ashly, Shyann, Brienna, and Gabby – have been chronicling their process on social media to keep their buzz a’zbuzzing.
Want to hear what the collective, who were created by Kelly Rowland and Frank Gatson, are cooking up?
