This week’s music headlines have undoubtedly been dominated by chart champion Solange and her much deserved/long-awaited victory ‘A Seat at the Table.’  A critical homerun, the album – featuring the likes of Lil’ Wayne, The Dream, and so many more – mirrored that fanfare with an impressive 72k units shifted its first week of availability.  The feat not only made it the week’s top-seller, but it also came as the singer’s best first week sales to date.

But, as the industry continues to sing Solo’s praises, there’s another chart slayer that continues its behind the scenes slayage in silence – ‘The Suicide Squad’ soundtrack.  Developed in support of the 2016 Will Smith-led film of the same name (which has grossed over $740 million since its August premiere), the soundtrack’s run on the Billboard 200 also comes as nothing to shake a stick at.

Unleashed on August 5th, the album debuted at #1 the next week and has not once left the top 6 since. To add, at the end of September the RIAA announced it was the first and only soundtrack to go gold this year.  Now, some two months after its release, the official motion picture soundtrack has moved an additional 38,000 SPS units and refuses to loosen its tight grip on the chart’s upper rankings.

Curious to know where it landed this week?  Tuck in below to find out:

The latest of the latter pairs Mimi with M.A.C, for whom she’s designing her own range of make-up for.

Announced last year, the fruits of the lucrative partnership are said to be hitting cosmetic shelves this holiday season.

Ever festive, Carey has named one of the lipsticks ‘All I Want’ and we’re told there’ll be much more tongue-in-cheek-ness to come.

Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.

So, as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’  allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature Chart Rewind – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.

This week we’ll invite you to come on over and relive the magic of Christina Aguilera‘s 2000 hit ‘Come On Over’ – the fourth and final single from her multi-platinum, self-titled debut album.  Ending the reign of Madonna‘s 12th and last #1 run on the Hot 100 (to date), ‘Come On Over’ shot to #1 this week 16 years ago on the strength of strong radio play and sales.  Reportedly one of few songs on the project where Xtina was given creative control over the song’s concept, and later, its accompanying music video, the tune’s colorful music video would also be the beginning of the singer’s departure from her “cookie cutter” image (a journey brought to completion by the time 2002’s ‘Stripped’ rolled around).

Giving Xtina the distinct honor of being the youngest artist to earn three #1 singles from one album (‘Genie In a Bottle’ & ‘What a Girl Wants’ being the first two), tuck in below to see what other songs joined ‘Come On Over’ in the top 25 this week in 2000:
