It’s here!

Alexandra Burke has unleashed her new EP ‘Renegade,’ as well as the video for the title track.

The set serves as the follow-up to 2013’s free offering ‘New Rules’ and is the first solo visual from the ‘X Factor’ winner in three years.

According to Burke, the project represents a rebirth of sorts and sees her take control, steering her sound towards grittier ground.

Peep this pic of ‘Full Moon’ singer Brandy sporting a her brand new look, shared with fans as she prepares to take on the epic role that is Roxie Hart in the latest serving of the play ‘Chicago.’

This week, our From The Vault pick comes courtesy of siblings Brandy and Ray J; it’s their 2001 rendition of ‘Another Day In Paradise.’

The track was featured on ‘Urban Renewal’, a tribute album to the great Phil Collins which saw artists from the Urban arena take on the classics from the singer-songwriter.
‘Paradise’ was the first single of said project and saw the ‘Best Friend’ belle trading lines with her brother Ray.

Produced by Guy Roche, it became a European hit gracing the Top 10 of numerous charts including the UK, France, Germany and Sweden. The single was never officially released in America.

Staying true to the song’s theme of homelessness, the video focuses on the indifference and disdain that is showed to people in need out in the streets. Though it can easily be labelled as contrived, we feel it’s important to make social commentary through art. Indeed at times artists have a reach that is way superior to any journalist’s or politician’s.

The ‘Urban Renewal’ project was all about celebrating a tremendous artist and ensure that their classic tunes could be “passed on” to the younger generation. In this day and age, we at TGJ HQ can think of many artists deserving of such an honor, but we want to know, can you?

Rihanna seems to be releasing everything but her new album.

Following a slew of so-so singles and endless photoshoots, the latest reveal from the Roc Nation diva is her first print shots for Puma.

As reported, the 27-year old inked a lucrative deal with the sportswear giant to launch a new lifestyle line and serve as the company’s “Creative Director”. The latter is particular ironic as the star can’t seem to direct her current album campaign to much success.

Anyway, kudos on booking yet another endorsement. Even if the music isn’t popping, it’s clear her brand remains potent.

Beyonce and Jay-Z may want to think twice before using TIDAL to premiere the joint album they’re said to be cooking up.

For, if remarks made by the industry info source Hits Daily Double is anything to go by, the streaming service is to blame for the problems Rihanna’s ‘American Oxygen’ is said to be facing on the charts.
