Dawn Richard is once again riding solo.

The Danity Kane staple is leaving the group’s drama and pressing ahead with her next independent venture, her sophomore album ‘Blackheart’.

Scheduled for release on January 15th next year, the LP has thus far spurned lead single ‘Blow’ – the video for which arrived last week.

Today, however, brings with it the debut of another new song, ‘Professional’.

Clearly club-geared, the track skews more mainstream than much of Richard’s experimental discography. Does it pay off, though? You be the judge below…

Industry forecasters predicted that country pop diva Taylor Swift‘s new album, ‘1989,’ would soar right to #1 with over a million sold its first week.  What they didn’t predict, however, is how far past the 1 million mark the record would scorch.

With official numbers finally tallied, reports have it the album shifted 1.287 million copies its first week and, in turn, etched the singer’s name in history books as the only artist to have three albums sell over 1 million copies in one week.

Billboard:

“…of the top selling albums on the Billboard 200 chart for the week, 1989 sold more than Nos. 2-107 combined.

Or, yet another way to view 1989’s massive bow: It debuts with more copies sold than the combined first-weeks of the last eight No. 1-debuting albums.  Note:  Swift’s 1989 was briefly on sale for 99 cents during its release week through the Microsoft’s Music Deals app, but those sales were not counted by SoundScan.”

As if that’s not reason enough to celebrate, the album’s lead single, ‘Shake It Off,’ has finally shaken Meghan Trainor‘s ‘All About That Bass’ from the top spot of the Hot 100.   This is in addition to the four other songs from ‘1989’ that made a debut in the Hot 100 this week.  The five entries put Taylor Swift in second place (behind Aretha Franklin) with most Hot 100 entries by a female ever.

With a #1 single and album simultaneously and five entries in the Hot 100, the question is now:  will that Taylor Swift reign ever let up?

Nick Jonas and Tinashe are wasting no time hitting the promo trail for their remix to ‘Jealous’.

The duo opened up today’s episode of BET’s 106 & Park with a crowd-pleasing live offering of the track which was unleashed earlier this week.

With the original having hit #27 on the Billboard Hot 100 and its new incarnation garnering ample play on radio, the performance could easily provide an added boost to the track’s trajectory ahed of the release of its housing album – Jonas’ self-titled debut (due November 11th).

It appears two of music’s most notable voices, Jessie J and Luke James, have paired up…and not for a collaboration.

Rumors have been rife that the ‘Burnin’ Up’ belter is dating James – who released his critically acclaimed debut (‘Luke James’) in September – and this week brought with it confirmation.

When she isn’t hard at work on her forthcoming US album, Pop princess Rita Ora can be found on the minds of many a world renown brand hoping to use her star power to push theirs.

For, after presenting her with a deal that would have seen hear pocket $200,000 for a two-night stint in Las Vegas, the company have been rejected by the performer.
