Nike is none too impressed with MSCHF‘s sneaker collaboration with Lil Nas X.

Dubbed the ‘Satan Shoe,’ the limited-edition sneakers touted as a collector’s item – with exactly “666” pairs produced.

Critiqued for being blasphemous, the shoe is a reworked take on Nike Air Max ’97’s and bears the bible scripture Luke 10:18 – which refers to the story of “Satan fall(ing) like lightning from heaven.” The $1,018 price-point reflects the verse too.

What’s more, each pair is touted as featuring real human blood.

Its retail arrival was clearly timed to coincide with Nas’ video for ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ -which saw the star twerk on Satan.

Nike, however, wants nothing to do with it and is heading to court to make its point clear.

Lil Nas X‘s polarizing, yet highly controversial new music video – ‘Call Me By Your Name’ – has been called many different things by commentators since its Friday (March 26) debut.

While fans and even celebrities like rapper Big Sean have christened the venture “creative” and “artistically daring” (as we reported here), others – like GRAMMY nominated Jagged Edge star Brian Casey – are among the critics who are slamming the Tanu Muino-directed clip as “demonic” and “satanic” for its bevy of sacrilegious imagery, which includes a scene of the 21-year-old giving Satan a lap dance.

Taking to Instagram recently to weigh in on the hoopla surrounding the visual, look inside for Casey’s lengthy statement on the matter.
