Much like our ‘Retro Rewind’ and ‘From the Vault’ segments, readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.  So in a quest to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday we introduced a new retrospective segment – ‘TGJ Replay’.

Unlike its ‘Rewind’ and ‘Vault’ predecessors, ‘Replay’ looks to dust off and showcase albums (and eras) from a library of pop music hits.  Next up?  TGJ favorite Monica‘s 1998 sophomore smash ‘The Boy Is Mine’:

This week’s That Grape Juice Cover Star comes from Cortez Shaw. Watch as the Texan takes on Chris Brown‘s latest hit single ‘Fine China’:

Go Mr. Shaw!

Anyone who follows us knows that we are a sucker for run-and-riffers – if used effectively and not abused.  Placement is everything, and when not solely relied on to sell a song (or disguise one’s actual vocal worth), they can be used to decorate a tune without overkill.  The former ‘Idol’ contestant effortlessly accomplished this.

Cortez let his melisma take off here and there, but much like the ‘Run It’ singer, he didn’t drown the melody with runs.  For this, we say ‘bravo’!

The second search for ‘The Voice UK’ is underway!

Already a smash in the US (and its original home of Holland), the show has arrived on British shores by way of the BBC last year and takes its place prime-time for another year running. Coaches this side of the pond are Jessie J, will.i.am, Danny O’ Donoghue, and the legendary Tom Jones.

Billed as the definitive talent-search, many are predicting it to serve as a true contender to The X Factor‘s strong hold.

Judge for yourself below with highlights from series 2 // episode 11 (the first of the Live Shows) below…

Viewers of The Voice UK are well-versed in the fact that will.i.am is notorious for saying his mind. However, the hitmaker and “coach” on the show sparked social media debate tonight following controversial comments made about diva Mariah Carey while praising  favourite-to-win Leah McFall.

Since footage of Danity Kane dining hit the net last month, fans have been scrambling for more details on what appears to be the reunion everyone has been waiting for.

For the most part, though, the ladies have remained relatively silent on the matter – besides absentee D. Woods, who confirmed that she will not be taking part in whatever reconciliation is on the cards.

That is until now.

The group’s most vocal member, Aubrey O’Day, lived up to her billing when spotted at Bootsy Bellows in West Hollywood this week. For, when questioned about the group’s “comeback”, she shared interesting morsels of info.

Having nabbed his first UK #1 with ‘Blurred Lines’, Robin Thicke continued to cement the song’s global  “hit” status with a rousing performance on The Graham Norton Show tonight.

The high-profile prime-time slot is one of many lined up to support the track and its like-titled album, which is due out July 9th (and a day earlier in Europe). {Click here to read our EXCLUSIVE preview}

Break America.

It’s a feat few British acts can boast of achieving, yet Little Mix have done it. Or, at the very least, are doing it.

The feisty Pop quad saw their debut album ‘DNA’ rocket to #4 on the Billboard 200 this week after shifting a (relatively) impressive 50,000 copies first week. Interestingly, the charting sees the LP become the highest ever debut project from a UK female group in America.

Keen to keep the momentum going, the ladies took over Good Morning America‘s Summer Concert Series today, where they rocked the house with the album’s title track and fan-favourite ‘Wings’.

Renown for her stage blazing ability, Beyonce has been thrilling audiences across Europe on her sell-out ‘Mrs Carter Show’ tour since April. Yet, with the first leg of the trek now over, King B is spending much of her downtime with her one year old princess – baby Blue Ivy.

The warming snap of mother and daughter was posted on the icon’s Tumblr page moments ago and serves as a rare glimpse into the personal life of the fiercely private star.

In other Beyonce news, US fans can catch the singer live when she kicks of the American arm of her tour later this month. The first date will be her highly publicized BET Experience showcase in Los Angeles on June 28th.

Stop whatever you’re doing and get into ‘Super Turnt Up‘, the latest cut to be pulled from Ciara’s brand new album ‘Ciara‘.

Released to the world via Power 106 today, the Urban jam made its radio debut as anticipation for the LP’s July release continues to heat up.
