The City Girls (comprised of Hip-Hop stars Yung Miami and JT) may quietly sit in the record books of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as the most-certified female Rap ensemble of all time, but the Southern duo have yet to match or surpass the group’s success with their respective solo endeavors.

The road to reckoning got its first footprints recently, however, when the RIAA announced the former had collected the first unaccompanied plaque of her career thanks to the viral hit ‘Okay.’

Drake

Drake drummed up headlines again today (January 15) when he withdrew his initial legal filing against Universal Music Group and Spotify – only to formally file a federal defamation lawsuit against the latter.

As reported, the MC claims the label is responsible for fueling ‘Not Like Us’Kendrick Lamar‘s diss track aimed at him. With his latest filing, he’s taking particular umbrage with the lyrics that deem him a “p*dophile.”

Now, the industry giant has hit back – and hit back thunderously.

'Family Affair' poster

After striking ratings gold with 2023’sMary J. Blige’s Real Love’ and ‘Mary J. Blige’s Strength of a Woman,’Lifetime is looking to repeat the feat with the third installment of the film series –‘Mary J. Blige’s Family Affair.’

Executive produced by Blige, the latter is named after her 2001 Hot 100 #1 hit.

According to the official logline, ‘Family’ “picks up as Kendra and Ben move out of the city in hopes of finally building a life together. With all their family around and inserted in their lives, tensions rise as they struggle with fertility issues, and Kendra tries to find her footing with Ben’s son.”

Starring Ajiona Alexus (as Kendra) and Da’Vinchi (as Ben), ‘Family Affair’ is due on screens January 25.

Wicked Movie

Award season is in full swing and the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2025 is unquestionably one of its most hotly anticipated ceremonies.

Celebrating achievements on the big screen both in Britain and globally, this year’s nominations bring with them major nods for homegrown films such as ‘Hard Truths,’ as well as ‘Wicked: For Good’ stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, and ‘Sing Sing’ anchor Colman Domingo.

Winners will be announced on Sunday, February 16 on BBC1 and iPlayer.

Danielle Deadwyler takes center stage in ‘The Woman In The Yard.’

Helmed by director Jaume Collet-Serra and produced by Jason Blum, the gripping film follows Ramona, a woman grappling with grief after she survives a car accident that took the life of her husband

Left to take care of their young children alone in her rural farmhouse, her world is flipped upside anew when a mysterious woman appears in her front yard.

It quickly becomes apparent that the woman’s intentions aren’t warm and a chilling chain of events sees Ramona fighting a battle of protection and much more.

Penned by screenwriter Sam Stefanak, ‘The Woman In The Yard’ sees BAFTA and SAG nominee Deadwyler joined by Okwui Okpokwasili, Russell Hornsby, Peyton Jackson, and Estella Kahiha.

In case you thought modesty was atop Kanye West‘s 2025 new year’s resolutions, think again.
