Lil Nas X‘s ‘Montero’ video didn’t just rustle feathers because of its religious overtones, it also raised eyebrows from some who noted striking similarities to FKA Twigs‘ visual for ‘Cellophone.’

One such person was the director of the latter.

Indeed, as reported, Andrew Thomas Huang said the following upon the release of Nas’ vid:

“When an artist is in a position of power (amplified by major record labels, social media, PR, etc) and repurposes someone’s labor and ideas to serve their brand image, they cause harm by displacing the efforts of the artists who did the original leg work.

Intentional or not, capitalizing on other artists’ work happens and we need to discuss the scale and magnitude and power asymmetries in this industry.”

‘The Talk’ is turning down the volume for another week.

In the wake of Sharon Osbourne‘s shocking eruption during a race debate with Sheryl Underwood on March 10, bosses have taken the show off-air as they launched an investigation.

It appears the probe centers on the 68-year-old’s defense of Piers Morgan‘s widely-condemned comments about race in the wake of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Originally set to return tomorrow (March 17), it’s been confirmed that no live shows will air until March 23.

As for why? It appears the growing discourse around Osbourne from former co-workers is proving difficult to ignore.

Sheryl Underwood has broken her silence on Sharon Osbourne‘s shocking outburst on The Talk.

As reported, the 68-year-old came under fire and brimstone when she was quizzed about her support for Piers Morgan, who sensationally “left” his role on Good Morning Britain after making remarks about Meghan Markle that many believe to be rooted in racism.

Osbourne’s defensive stance during the segment (which included her demanding that Underwood not cry because she is the one “who should be crying”) went viral.

The fall-out has been thick and fast, with Osbourne issuing an apology to the Black community (but then claiming to have been “blindsided”) and CBS launching a formal investigation.

Now Underwood is speaking up and out. Her words, which came during an interview with Steve Harvey, below…

After initially issuing an apology to the Black community for a shocking outburst on The Talk, Sharon Osbourne is now claiming to have been “blindsided” by her co-hosts.

As reported, the TV maven was consumed with fury in defense of her friend Piers Morgan, whose dismissal of Meghan Markle‘s suicidal feelings saw him “leave” popular UK morning show Good Morning Britain. A development that took place against the backdrop of over 41,000 formal complaints about his conduct to UK regulator Ofcom.

Markle’s claims were unpacked during her and Prince Harry’s seismic interview with Oprah Winfrey and highlighted ill-treatment the couple says was racially charged. Specifically as relates to The Talk, it ignited a conversation about whether Morgan’s shocking dismissal was rooted in racism.

Osbourne’s fiery eruption, which is now a viral moment, has snowballed into a story in and of itself.

And now the host is adding fresh chapters.

From slamming Black History Month and BET as ‘double standards’ against White people to saying transgendered people should “pee in bushes (instead of bathrooms),” and more, actress-turned-political commentator Stacey Dash has seen her name flashed across headlines over the past 6 years for some controversial comments on sociopolitical matters – especially regarding racial and gender equality.

As the latter half of that time period saw her fired from ‘FOX News’ and endure a highly publicized divorce from her fourth husband (as we reported here), it appears those shake-ups and others have made the 54-year-old turn over a new leaf.

Tapping J-Hud to serve as its face, the initiative includes a grant program in partnership with Fearless Fund that supports Mastercard’s previously announced $500 million commitment to amplifying Black businesses and communities over the next 5 years.

To kickstart the campaign, the songstress teamed again with producer-performer extraordinaire Will.i.Am to give the 1967 classic Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell hit, ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,’ a 2021 twist.
