Eddie Murphy‘s comeback.
It’s something we’ve hoped and waited for. Yet, recent years have seen the star’s career sink into quite the coma.
Indeed, a string of commercial catastrophes such as ‘Norbit’ have rendered the former comedian a punchline himself; a status sadly strengthened by his latest flop ‘A Thousand Words’.
The comedy, which actually shot back in 2008 (where it perhaps should have stayed), could only manage a measly $1.92 million at 1,890 Stateside theatres on its opening day. A figure which will likely spell an even grimmer first weekend total.
Starring Kerry Washington, the film also made Rotten Tomatoes history by becoming one of only four movies to score “0” since the outlet began telling it like it is back in 1999. {Source}

If there’s one common theme in Murphy’s box office bombs, it’s that his roles of late are largely of the childish, comedy by the numbers persuasion. Surely a return to the raciness that defined his hey-day is what the career Dr ordered?
