Kelly Rowland will not be appearing on the X Factor UK this weekend.

The ‘Motivation’ singer was struck down with a serious throat infection during a planned business trip to Los Angeles. While on her flight from London to LA, the Grammy winner is believed to have contracted a rare virus – which, by the time time of landing, left her almost unable to swallow.

Rushed to hospital, the 30 year old has been there since under the advice of doctors.

And while she rests up ahead an expected return next week, it has been confirmed that Pop force Alexandra Burke will step in to represent Kelly on tonight and tomorrow night’s live shows.

————————-

Given the media propaganda surrounding the supposed “Kelly+Misha B /Tulisa beef”, it’s fair to say the timing of Rowland’s illness is probably the worst it could be.

However, with former X Factor winner Burke taking up her cause, fans of Kelly’s Girls category can breathe a sigh of relief. For, with Tulisa and co’s claws out and ready to rip, it would have been a distaster.com had her acts have to fend for themselves against the likes of Tulisa and her calculated antics.

We’ll certainly be watching. Will you?

After turning heads for all the wrong reasons recently, Christina Aguilera looked quite the stunner last night.

The singer, 30, re-joined her ‘The Voice’ cast mates for the press launch of season 2 of the hit talent-search in Culver City, California.

Set to kick off February 5th 2012, immediately following the Superbowl, analysts predict the show to command an even bigger weekly audience. (An audience Aguilera would be well-advised to use to her advantage in re-launching her music career.)

For a group who flourished in the 00’s, it’s sure does feel like an eternity since the words Pussycat Dolls actually meant anything.

Indeed, towards the end of their run, the quintet’s music struggled to chart, while band-members fled like the plague, and lead singer Nicole Schezinger continued to peddle her solo career. Needless to say, combustion was more a case of ‘when’ than ‘if’, with the ladies eventually going on “hiatus” in 2009.

Some hiatus that was, for the group are back – with all new faces.

PCD creator Robin Antin has assembled the new line-up with hope they can replicate the success of their predecessors. Peep the new faces above, by way of Perez Hilton. Little is known about the scantly clad six as at writing. However, all is reportedly set to be unveiled shortly.

Putting aside’s Ms. Antin’s adamance on pushing this “concept” (see: PCD, Girlicious, Paradiso Girls), it sure will be interesting to see how this plays out.

For, immediate thinking suggests the the group’s formula is as dated as VHS. Still, as the saying goes, anything can happen.
