10 years after James Fortune and Monica topped Gospel charts and nabbed a GRAMMY nomination for their first collaboration, ‘Hold On,’ the dynamic duo are looking to repeat the feat with their newest joint venture, ‘Trusting God.’

“So I’m just out here trusting God / When I don’t understand your plan for me / And I’m just out here believing every word you promised me / Yes / I’m just out here holding on / That’s all I can do, I won’t give up / And I won’t give up because I know you won’t give up on me / But sometimes it’s hard to believe,” Mo wails on the moving tune.

Speaking on the uplifting tune, Fortune had nothing but good things to say about his co-star.

“I was completely blown away not only by her vocal performance but also by the heartfelt passion in which she communicated the song,” he told our friends at VIBE. “It all came together so beautifully and I’m truly grateful that God would trust us with this encouraging and uplifting message to share with the world. Because whether we realize it or not we are all just out here trusting God.”

You’ll undoubtedly feel the same after your first listen to the stirring number. Hear it in full inside.

However, unlike our other segments – Retro Rewind, TGJ Replay, and From The Vault – The Pop Stop is the most in-depth look at Pop songs that may have flown under the radar over the last week that you should know, rather they be from music’s biggest stars or those on the rise.

This week, we want to highlight cuts from Kali Uchis, J-Hope, Sam Williams, and Boygenius .

After watching her 2022 single, ‘Super Freaky Girl,’ become her first solo Hot 100 #1 hit (and longest-charting tune on the tally since 2012’s ‘Starships’), Rap Queen Nicki Minaj is undoubtedly hoping her long-awaited new song – ‘Red Ruby Da Red’ – gets that same reception.

Featuring a prominent sample of Lumidee‘s 2003 hit, ‘Never Leave You (Uh Oh),’ ‘Ruby’ shines as Minaj’s return after a lengthy hiatus.

“Only on them C’s if it’s breeze (Uh-oh, uh-oh) / Red Ruby Da Sleeze, Chinese on my sleeve / These wannabe Chun-Li’s, anyway, (Nǐ Hǎo, uh-oh) / Who the f**k told b***hes they was me now? (Uh-oh, ooh) / I knew these b****hes was slow, I ain’t know these b***hes senile (Ooh).” she spits on the blazing track.

Packaged with cover art similar to that of 2018’s top 10 hit ‘Chun-Li,’ the song’s delivery heightens anticipation for its forthcoming music video.

Until it arrives, hear ‘Ruby’ inside.

Angela Bassett did the thing – and has been doing so for decades!

This award season has seen the legendary actress honored in earnest for her stunning performance as Queen Ramonda in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’

The latest accolade to be bestowed upon Bassett was the Best Supporting Actress Award at the AAFCA Awards 2023 in Los Angeles. In a sweet, full-circle moment, the prize was presented by producer, director, and Bassett’s ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ co-star  Vanessa Bell Calloway.

Prior to the star receiving the honor, That Grape Juice‘s Shar Jossell caught up with her on the red carpet – where she opened up about this season of “gratitude.” She playfully welcomed continued buzz around Ariana DeBose‘s now infamous BAFTA performance and the oh-so-apt lyric we’ve been singing since – “Angela Bassett Did The Thing”!

Queen of Funk Chaka Khan has fans of Adele, Mariah Carey, and Mary J. Blige in a funk after she took to ‘The Originals’ podcast recently to suggest she was disappointed the divas ranked higher than her on Rolling Stone’s infamous “200 Greatest Singers” list.

Stating the mag’s editors need “hearing aids” for the placements, Khan was particularly side-eyed by fans of Blige given their reported positive history.

In fact, the 69-year-old even admitted in the same interview that the two “loved each other” and are good friends but that didn’t stop her from reasserting the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul royally butchered the 1975 classic ‘Sweet Thing’ (Chaka’s signature song).
