Beyonce On The Set of 'Obsessed' Check out Beyonce on the set of her new movie ‘Obsessed’ in Los Angeles yesterday. The ‘Crazy In Love’ star plays the wife of a successful businessman, whose life (and that of his family) is threatened by a crazy office worker of his who turns out to be a stalker. Interesting stuff lol.
I’m thinking this will be the make or break role for Beyonce’s quest to be taken seriously as an actress. ‘Dreamgirls’ was definitely a step in the right direction, however, this is obviously the more challenging role. ‘Obsessed’ hits theatres worldwide in March next year.

In a pretty odd happening, Danity Kane performed on Country music’s version of American Idol, Nashville Star last night. Yes, I have no idea why they were booked to perform there either. Anyway, about the performance, it was pretty good. The ladies have definitely had better live vocal showings, however their stage presence compensated for that 100%, they really worked the stage like the seasoned performers they’ve become.

R. Kelly - 'Playas Get Lonely'Following the ‘Not Guilty’ verdict that was handed down in the R. Kelly trial a few weeks back, the singer is pressing ahead with the release of his new album ’12 Play: 4th Quarter’ (due this summer). A track said to feature on the set titled ‘Playas Get Lonely’ has surfaced. I must I’m quite feeling this mid-tempo cut. Here’s hoping the album itself is pretty good, as I feel, excluding 2005’s ‘Trapped In The Closet’ episodes, Kelly’s LP’s have gotten progressively worse since TP-2.com.

Yesterday, Bad Boy five-piece Day26 performed their single ‘Got Me Going’ on BET’s 106 & Park, which aired from Los Angeles in preparation for tonight’s BET Awards:

Great performance. I was about to go off though when I realized they were performing ‘Got Me Going’ again, seeing they have a new single out. The ‘Since You Been Gone’ acapella was a nice touch, though. As reported, the video for the single will premiere on MTV this Friday.

Lil' Mama: In a recent interview with our friends over at Rap-Up.com, Lil’ Mama expressed her disappointment with her label’s handling of her debut album ‘VYP: Voice Of The Young People’, which debut at #25 with just 19, 000 units sold. Here’s what the teen star had to say:

“I’m very disappointed in my label, Jive Records, for not promoting my record properly. I’m not a rapper first and foremost. I’m the birth of hip-pop. I’m an innovator and everything that I do is fresh. When you have something so new and fresh in your hands, you’re supposed to know what to do with it. By signing with a label, I signed knowing that everyone was on the same page as me and understanding what was going on. But that wasn’t what I thought it was.”

Ouch…

Whatever happens, I’m hoping we see a lot more from this talented young lady.

Janet & Jermaine Ready To Start FamilyAfter more than 7 years of dating, Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri have publicly expressed their desire to start a family together in the very near future. Check out what JD had to say in the matter when spotted at Nelly’s dinner party this past week end in West Hollywood:

“Yeah, soon. Right after the tour.’ Jackson recently announced she’ll be on the road this fall. The 42-year-old pop icon, who has been married and divorced twice, once quipped that she was ‘allergic to marriage.’ Dupri is reportedly so excited to procreate with Jackson, he doesn’t care if it’s a boy or a girl. ‘It really doesn’t matter, Janet would be a great mom. She was around so many brothers and sisters all her life, so she’s got to know what that is [like]. And her mom is a great mother.”{Source 1} {Source 2}

I’m assuming I speak for most when I say: ‘It’s about time already!’ LOL. On a side note, it’s doubtful, in view of this, that we’ll be hearing any new Janet material for a while…

As Estelle’s ‘American Boy’ continues to blow up around the globe, the Londoner performed the smash with Kanye West for the first time at France’s Fête de la musique festival, which took place in Paris over the weekend:

I really enjoyed the performance. Though I’ve seen Estelle offer more polished live showings of the song, having Kanye on stage as well as the 30, 000 strong crowd really made for an awesome atmosphere.

‘American Boy’ is lifted from Estelle’s fantastic new album ‘Shine’ which is in stores now.

This week’s From The Vault journeys back to Beyonce’s showing at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards. Featuring the now infamous ‘upside down’ entrance, this performance of ‘Baby Boy’ and ‘Crazy In Love’ IMO was Beyonce’s ‘Motown 25’ moment – officially cementing her place as, hate it or love it, ‘The Hottest Chick In The Game’:

Entertainment Tonight caught up with Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson on the set of her much anticipated video for first single ‘Spotlight’. Check it out:

Jennifer looked great and came across very well. Though ‘Spotlight’ didn’t ‘wow’ me initially, it’s grown on me considerably as of late. Here’s hoping Jennifer’s project lives up to the high expectations.

Day26 - 'Must Be Love' An unreleased Day26 track, which is believed to be a left-over from their debut album, surfaced recently. Produced by Bryan Michael Cox, it’s pretty evident why ‘Must Be Love’ wasn’t included on their record – it’s a real run-of-the-mill, uninspired slow-jam. Fortunately, Cox and the Bad Boy five-piece fare better on their other joint efforts such as ‘Are We In This Together’.
In other Day26 news, the video for the guys’ long-overdue second single ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ will premiere on F’N MTV this coming Friday.

Kanye West Defends Soulja Boy In a recent entry on his official blog, Kanye West took up for Soulja Boy in his escalating ‘beef’ with rapper/actor Ice T. Here’s what Kanye had to say on the issue:

Soulja boy is fresh ass hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip hop is sposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song. He had all of America rapping this summer. If that ain’t Hip Hop then what is? A bunch of wannabe keep it real rappers that ain’t even relevant, recycling samples trying to act like it’s 96 again and all they do is hate on new shit? Niggas always talk about the golden age but for a 13 year old kid, this is the golden age!!! That song was so dope cause everything he said had a hidden meaning… that’s Nas level shit… he just put it over some steel drums which is also some Nas shit if you had the 2nd album cassette with the bonus track “Silent Murder” on it. In closing… new niggas get ya money$$$$$$$$$$ Keep this shit fresh and original…. ain’t no fuckin’ rules to this shit and that’s what real hip hop is to me.

– Kanye West

Interesting…lol. In other news, Ice T has responded to Soulja Boy’s response (if that makes any sense lol):

It’s increasing seeming like an Old Skool vs New Skool situation…
