With Christina Aguilera’s ‘Back To Basics: Live From Down Under’ tour DVD set to hit shelves in the US tomorrow, this new performance of her club smash ‘Dirrty’ (from the tour) has hit the net. Aside from the unnecessarily long intro, it was a great performance. It really highlighted that not (m)any of the females out today could compete (or come close) on the vocal side of things. Kinda random, but I think she should revisit this sound on her next LP because that ‘Back To Basics’ album was a mess.

R&B star Alicia Keys performed a medley of hits and new material during her set at yesterday’s Superbowl Pre-Show on the University of Phoenix Stadium’s field. I really enjoyed the performance; Alicia showed out vocally, stage presence etc. Awesome.

Usher - 'Love In The Club' (Full) Though there is no affirmative release date or info about Usher’s much-anticipated new album, material from the LP is surfacing thick and fast. Some of you may have heard a snippet of the Polow Da Don produced ‘Love In The Club’ that was floating around last year. The full version of the track has since hit the net and, I must say, that I’m liking it. Judging by the mid-tempo cut, as well as the other material I’ve heard, Usher is evolving musically, which is great.
Saying that, word has it the song is set to be the album’s lead single, something I’m kinda on the fence about. After coming HARD with the first single from his ‘Confessions’ LP ‘Yeah’, I’m not sure this packs the punch it needs to make a significant impact. He could have done without the unnecessary Young Jeezy feature too.

We head back to 1999 for this week’s ‘From The Vault’ video, TLC’s mega-smash ‘No Scrubs.’ One of the group’s biggest hits, there was no escaping this track back in the day. The song has gone down as one of the biggest ladies anthems of all-time:

Definitely a song-of-the-times, fellas around the world knew they had to fix up after this one lol. With TLC having paved the way for the barrage of girl-groups that would follow their blueprint, the ladies and their achievements will go down in history. They really don’t ‘make’ them like this anymore. R.I.P Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopez.

The video for Cassie’s new single ‘Is It You?’ premiered yesterday. Taken from the soundtrack for the ‘Step Up 2’ movie (OST due February 5th), the song was produced by her mentor Ryan Leslie. Though the clip is pretty much standard-soundtrack video-fare, I’m really liking the song – I can’t even deny it. Is it me or has Cassie stepped up her vocal game (not that that’s saying much, but still)?

Hudson Joins Perry's 'The Family That Preys' Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson has joined the cast of Tyler Perry’s forthcoming movie ‘The Family That Preys.’ The drama focuses on ‘two families from different sides of the tracks that become intimately involved in love and business.’ Perry is, both, writing and producing the movie, himself, for Lionsgate. Alfre Woodward, Sanaa Lathan, Rockmund Dunbar and Kathy Bates will also co-star.
‘Preys” will be Perry’s sixth for Lionsgate, following the last year’s box office hit ‘Why Did I Get Married?’ and ‘Meet the Browns.’ – due March. He’s expected to follow ‘Preys’ with ‘Madea Goes to Jail.’

Hudson has been working steadily since her ‘Dreamgirls’ breakthrough. She’s finished work on ‘Winged Creatures’ and the ‘Sex and the City’ movie and she was recently cast in a an adaptation of the novel .The Secret Life of Bees.’ {Source}

Trey Songz recently released a new remix video for his hit single ‘Can’t Help But Wait’ – featuring rapper Plies. The track will appear on the forthcoming ‘Step Up 2′ soundtrack.’ Video aside (it’s really not that great), I’m hoping Trey gets the recognition he deserves this year. The guy is overly talented, yet so slept on.

What do you think of the song / video?

Usher - 'Moving Mountains' (Snippet) With Usher hard at work on his forthcoming, as-yet-untitled, album, a snippet of new material has surfaced. It’s rumored ‘Moving Mountains’ was produced by man-of-the-moment Timbaland. In any case, the track has me real amped for Usher’s LP. The mid-tempo cut sounds like a mesh of Timbo’s ‘Apologize’ and your vintage Bryan Michael Cox piano-ballad. I’m surmising from this, that Usher has kinda taken the sound from the last album ‘Confessions’ and upped it to the next level.

Check out this video of R&B songstress Kelly Rowland performing her UK smash ‘Work’ (Freemasons Mix) – on BBC’s Sound show, here in the London. As a big fan of the original version of the track, I’ve also come to really like the Freemasons mix – which is set to climb into the top 3 on the Official single chart tomorrow. About the performance, Kelly did a great job…vocals, sass and all the rest. Good stuff.

Though it seems Ciara has wrapped up the promotion for her most recent project ‘The Evolution’, she isn’t heading out of the limelight just yet. The ‘Goodies’ singer laid down new vocals for a remix to Janet’s ‘Feedback’, as well as Missy Elliott’s ‘Ching-A-Ling’.
Despite Janet not recording new vocals for this (possibly official) remix, Ciara has injected a new life into this already-storming track. Often likened to Janet, Ciara’s voice, delivery, everything fits the song really well. With all the comparisons and whatnot, would I be alone in thinking a live performance of this remix would be unmissable?
As with the ‘Feedback’ remix, it’s Ciara’s delivery that stands out on Missy’s ‘Ching-A-Ling’ remix – which also features Jay-Z. It’s well-known C’s vocal prowess leaves a lot to be desired, but her swagger on this can’t be denied IMO.
These kinda have me thirsty for what she’ll be serving up on her new album, which she is reportedly working on now.
