Why do you think ‘Brave’ flopped?
Nicole Scherzinger is still trying to push those singles/album of hers; this time here in the UK on daytime show GMTV. Providing that the song is trash (sorry, call me a hater or whatever), she did a great job…lipsynching. At this point, any hope of the album being any good is lost (for me), but she always has the Pussycat Dolls to fall back on, I guess.

The much anticipated new video from X Factor winner Leona Lewis finally hit UK screens today. ‘Bleeding Love’ has been enjoying immense radio airplay here in the UK and the video seems set to make the song a smash. Though I have my reservations about the song (too 90’s Mariah for me), the vid is pretty good. Leona’s debut album ‘Spirit’ is set to hit stores in Europe on November 12th. A Stateside launch for the singer is planned for early 2008.

You went after Lil’ Wayne on “Part-Time Lover” with the rhyme “You make me want to kiss you like Baby do Wayne/And make you call me Daddy like Baby do Wayne/Damn, that shit sounds gay, it’s insane/I guess that’s the price a lil’ nigga pay for fame.” What’s that about?
I’ve already baited Lil’ Wayne to come on out so I can break his little neck. My consistency will break his neck the same way LL’s consistency broke Canibus’. Lil’ Wayne is a talented rapper but not a great songwriter. He has had great verses on other people’s projects, but they were not his complete ideas over production that he picked. He’s not marrying the right production and lyrics to make classic hit records. But if he’s not coming after you, why bother him?
Why not break his neck? I got nothing else to do. If they set you up to believe you are in a situation you’re not actually in yet, then you go out there… See, he’s saying what he’s saying to Jay because Jay didn’t respond to him. I’m giving him something to work off. Is that one of 50’s laws? Yeah. Sometimes the best defense is a good offense.

The video for Timbaland’s new single ‘Apologize’ – featuring rock collective One Republic – premiered on UK music channel B4 yesterday. Though the song is good, the video continues Timbaland’s trend of sub-par videos. Very unimaginative.

On Friday night at New York’s Roseland Ballroom, Nas announced the title of his next album: He said it will be called Nigga and released in December. A source close to the project confirmed the name on Saturday.
Though he’s undeniably one of Hip Hop’s most talented MC’s, this all seems a little desperate on Nas’ part. It’s no secret that his sales have been drying up with each album, so i guess, when all else fails, resorting to shock value is the answer.
As many of you will have heard, rapper T.I. was arrested over the weekend on weapons charges (click here to read the full story) . T.I., real name, Clifford Harris, was due to perform at the BET Hip Hop Awards on Saturday, but was arrested and jailed just hours before his scheduled performance.
According to sources, the case against the rapper is pretty strong and a long jail sentence is a likelihood. The Atlanta native is set for a court hearing this coming Monday. Having served time in the slammer only a few years back, you’d think he’d know better.

EW: What’s going on here? Why so many delays with this album? Are you scrapping the whole thing and starting over?
EVE: No, I’m not completely starting over. I’m definitely gonna keep some of the records that I had because I love a lot of the stuff that I did. So I’m keeping a lot of it. I’m just going back in to kinda make it a well-rounded album. I think what kind of delayed us this time was that I went in and did two records that sound a lot like the Pharrell record — the singing record…. I don’t think the movement was right and I’d rather put out an album and feel 100 percent connected to it than just to put out an album, especially the way music is right now.
EW: So what’s the latest release date for the album?
EVE: Some time next year. I know [Laughs]. It’s like I’ve been trying to push this baby out for a year, okay! Trust me, it is really crazy. It’s the longest labor on earth! But honestly, I feel okay about it. It’ll be some time next year.
Though it’s good to hear her talk candidly about the delay, I can’t help but still wonder if there is even a point releasing the album, when any hype she had surrounding the project disappeared with ‘Tambourine’. This year has really been a mess in regard to all the push backs.
R&B singer Mario is to feature in his own MTV special in the lead-up to the release of his new album ‘Go!’ (due October 30th). As well as promoting the record, it appears the show will focus on Mario’s mother’s drug addiction. I remember reading about his mom’s problems in an interview he did a while back; though, then, he gave the impression it was a thing of the past. Whatever the case, here’s hoping they can overcome their issues.
Be on the lookout for a review of ‘Go!’ sometime next week.

K- So if we can’t talk about relationships, let’s talk about sex. The new album has a few tracks that would make Salt N Pepa proud.
A- That’s a beautiful thing, and I hope I’m more within my right.
K- Guess Nelly’s brought out the inner freak in you? huh? Lucky Bastard!
A- I hope this isn’t being said wrong. I don’t want to come off as a slut bucket. I’m not that chick, but I am a adult. I am a woman.
K- When we talked to Irv Gotti, he said you were doing your own thing and that you felt you’d outgrown The Inc. Is that accurate?
A- Uh, how do I address this? I feel like, creatively, I wanted to try some new stuff, just to see, because there was a lot of stuff going on. Now, I wasn’t on trial, so obviously Irv’s focus and my focus were a little bit different.
K- But just because you weren’t at the trial everyday doesn’t mean you weren’t riding for the team.
A- Exactly, and I was filming, so it was hard. People underestimate the word business. Loving someone and being creative and passionate, that’s all easy. It’s hard when it turns into business.
She looks great! I can’t stop cracking up at her ‘slut bucket’ comment lol. For real though, switching up her oft ‘safe’ subject-matter may just be what she needs to do to show people her growth both artistically and in age (she turned 27 yesterday). In regards to Irv, like everyone else, Ashanti must know The INC is a sinking ship, hence why she’s trying to spread her wings. Irv just seems bitter.
Any thoughts?
