“Every time you count Mariah out, she comes back swinging” – a sentiment shared by many-a-Lamb after the shambolic New Year’s Eve 2017 performance that kicked the singer’s year off in the worst way. Dominating headlines for Carey’s uncaring demeanor, shameless lipsyncing, and misfired choreography, the set of performances not only set in motion doubt about her abilities to perform, but drew concern the ‘Touch My Body’ belter had finally lost her “touch.”

To hush the naysayers, Carey called upon her trusted, longtime collaborators – Bryan Michael Cox and Jermaine Dupri – to aid with the creation of the perfect tune to hoist the diva back to the top of charts.  Together, the trio cooked up ‘I Don’t’ – a fiery R&B ‘breakup anthem’ decorated with an infectious bass line and a set of sharp lyrics many would assume were musical darts for her ex-billionaire beau James Packer.  Tapping rapper YG to assist, the song was preceded by a number of appetite-whetting teasers before its official February 3 launch…

It’s hard to believe next month marks 15 years since the record-shattering, self-titled debut of the Murder Inc.-crowned ‘Princess of Hip Hop & R&B’ Ashanti Douglas, but the songstress – who is commemorating the event by releasing new music – is in just as much disbelief, a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar reveals.

Taking to the publication, Douglas says:

“It’s crazy. It’s an awesome feeling to know through it all—all my trials and tribulations, the obstacles, and the ups and the downs, the growing pains of the music industry—to still be here … it’s an incredible, humbling feeling. My album as a debut artist is still in the Guinness Book of World Records.”

And, if her sit down with ‘Bazaar’ is any indication, the ‘Happy’ hitmaker is looking to make more history with the soon to be released single, ‘Lose Yourself.’

Bow Wow (Shad Moss) may have barked up the wrong tree when he recently tried to come for president Donald Trump by taking aim at the politician/reality star’s wife, Melania.

Unlike TIP, the ‘Like You’ hitmaker’s comments were nearly as well received.  Branded by some as “bizarre,” tuck in to see exactly what Bow Wow said and see some of the troubled Twitter responses as a result:

Quite interestingly, as proponents of racial diversity within entertainment celebrate the arrivals of a new batch of “melanated” Hollywood stars, some industry insiders have made an interesting observation.

Most of them are British.

This week, after Samuel L. Jackson took to Hot 97 to reveal why he believes movie studios are overlooking African-American actors to hire Black British actors when casting, the debate surrounding why this may be continues to heat up online.

Get Out‘ has been a box office smash, surpassing the $100 million mark and scoring a 99 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the flick and its British lead Daniel Kaluuya have been critique by Samuel L. Jackson.

The ‘Kong: Skull Island‘ star criticized the decision to cast the British actor over an African American actor in the lead role.

Seemingly bothered by Jackson’s problematic comments, Kaluuya, who was born in London to Ugandan parents, makes his voice heard with having to prove his ‘blackness in an interview with GQ.
