Based on true events, Netflix takes a deeper look at the American opioid crisis with its gripping limited series, ‘Painkiller.’
The six-episode drama, which stars Uzo Aduba and Matthew Broderick as well as West Duchovny, John Rothman, Taylor Kitsch, and Dina Shihabi, is said to be a fictionalized retelling of events” that “explores some of the origins and aftermath of the opioid crisis in America [by] highlighting the stories of the perpetrators, victims, and truth-seekers whose lives are forever altered by the invention of OxyContin; an examination of crime, accountability, and the systems that have repeatedly failed hundreds of thousands of Americans.”
