With the release of Alexandra Burke’s much anticipated debut ‘Overcome’ drawing ever-closer (due October 12th), Amazon are giving folks a preview of the entire album:

Hmmm…I can’t say the clips are rocking my world, to be honest. That said, I will reserve full judgement until hearing the album in it’s entirety. In the meanwhile, we want to know what you’re thinking…
Hit or Miss?

I like Burke’s voice, but this album sounds like a generic, uninspired mess. She can do much better. I know people are going to say that you can’t judge a song by a 30 second snippet. If the snippet is supposed to pique my interest, all of them failed to do so, as did “Bad Boys” which I’ve heard in full, and “Overcome” is your run-of-the-mill XFactor/Idol generic power ballad…. Sigh!
I’m sure she’ll get love, though, so more power to her.

I like Brandy’s version of ‘Good Night, Good Morning’ better, but I think that that song will probably be my favourite track on the album after hearing these snippets. I’m not really checking for this at all tbh- I was hoping for a few club-bangers here and there, few nice ballads(because that girl has pipes), and a bit more of a an R’n'B influence. I don’t mind ‘All Night Long’ though, I guess, but I don’t think that any track on this album is worth shouting from the rooftops about. Hell, the way Alex was going on, I thought this CD would’ve had a lot more better tracks on there.
Ah well, I wish her luck.

Well, I for one love it. There was never going to be a ‘Bleeding Love’ on here as that was an accident.
Alex was never going to tear up the music biz with an album on the back of a reality TV show… nobody really does. Nobody really has the clout to call the shots.
I think as far as X Factor debuts go, this is practically genius.
And I have heard worse in the charts, we all have.

Also, I love LeLe but ‘Spirit’ wasn’t great… it was a grower.
If Soulja can go platinum….

I really think that this album was rushed!! it would have been better if she would of taken some more time and released better music!! and im not really feeling her first single!! and to me if the first single is good the first week sales are good!! its so sad to see such a great voice go to waste!!

She made the same mistake countless other talented artists makes, she DID NOT take the time to develop a sound! She did NOT have great chemistry with a songwriter/producer like Leona did with Ryan Tedder. Obviously, I don’t think her transition to worldwide superstardom won’t be as smooth as Leona.

I agree this album felt rushed and sounded like she was trying to hard. It was like heres a bunch of songs i think would be great for you. But she just sounded a mess. The album was everywhere it had no focus point. I give it a thumb downs
