Legendary producer Quincy Jones assembled over 80 artists at in Los Angeles last night to record the 2010 version of ‘We Are The World’ in support of Haiti. The session, which has been spear-headed by Jones and Lionel Richie, who together with the late, great Michael Jackson fronted the original 25 years ago, was recorded at the Jim Henson Studios in Hollywood – the same place the 1985 version was recorded in. Look out for the track’s debut during the Winter Olympics later this month.
Stars who recorded during the session for the new version included:
Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Kanye West, Celine Dion, Lil Wayne, Barbra Strisand, Wyclef, Pink, Gladys Knight, Justin Bieber Akon, Snoop Dogg, Mya, Brandy, Robin Thicke, Tyrese, Trey Songz, Jamie Foxx, Toni Braxton, Kid Cudi, LL Cool J, Keri Hilson, will.i.am, Nicole Scherzinger, among others.
Interestingly, though Michael Jackson’s original vocals will not feature, the Jackson family will have a presence on the track; with Janet Jackson confirmed to record and submit her vocals remotely, and some members of Jackson trio 3T also present during the session.
Tidbits: It’s also been reported that Lady GaGa will be featuring on the track in some capacity. Like most, though, I am wondering where Beyonce is…
In any case, check whole lot of pics from the session after the jump…

WHO MADE THE FACT THAT “WE ARE THE WORLD” SHOULD BE JUST “SINGERS”? IT’S NOT ABOUT THAT! IT’S ABOUT ARTISTS GIVING BACK PERIOD. THAT WOULDN’T BE RIGHT IF ALL “RAPPERS” DID A SONG. QUINCY JONES PROBABLY WOULDN’T TELL SOMEONE IF THEY RAP YOU CAN’T BE ON THE SONG. I THINK IT’S GOOD THAT MOST OF THE PEOPLE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY CAN COME TOGETHER FOR A GOOD CAUSE. THE RAPPERS ARE THE PEOPLE I’M MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO ON THE SONG. LIL WAYNE (OF COURSE), KANYE WEST, AND LL. BUT I’M ALSO LOOKING FORWARD TO PINK AND BRANDY.

“F “a Beyonce, where is Kelly Rowland? She was one of Micheals favorites. He even had a crush on her. It’s true. He said it himself; and seeing that her BFF Brandy is making an appearance you would think that Kelly would jump at the opportunity to do something like this( Oh, I forgot, Kelly likes to sit back and wait for people to “call her” with opportunities. She doesn’t pounce on them like her gal pal Beyonce. If she did maybe she’d have won 6 grammys for her solo work instead of having to share 1 for a collaborative effort. I love the girl but she is NOT as agressive as I’d like her to be. Anyway, enough of my personal rant, back to the post at hand.) I know Kelly is buisy putting it down in the studio and creating what I believe will be the biggest promo campaign she’s ever had but this is musical history we’re talking about, not to mention a philanthropic tribute(It’s not every day you see stars coming together to benefit someone other than themselves; unless ofcourse it’s U2).
She should put whatever she’s doing on hold to MAKE herself apart of this.

It’s time for many of you to get over your jealousy for Beyonce .I sense that many of you who are jealous of Beyonce hate her for other reasons besides her singing and it has to do with her skin tone unfortunately….
As far as Kelly Rowland, she has no business there because she CAN’T sing especially LIVE!

The song is going to be amazing with or with out her stop making everything about her!!! Now if she does later on join the line up then hey good for her, but the song is not even about the artist it’s about Haiti so really it doesn’t matter whose on the song unless some of these artist only do these charity songs to make themselves look good and to be in the limelight, but I don’t think that is the reason why they do these types of songs so let’s just show love and stop hating ok!!!!!!

Maybe Kelly is busy right now, or feel like most people that the Original shouldn’t be tampered with. I wonder if they will have Jamie Foxx imitate Ray Charles for the song as well?
And yes, Kelly Rowland was Michael’s crush, but I don’t think that she would do that song for that reason alone, although I would to acknowledge he was crushing on me, lol. She had the baddest man in the history of Entertainment crushing on her, and people say she needs to do more. More of what? You can’t get any higher as far as compliments. How funny that MJ was crushin on the lesser known Destiny Child member? But she does have the same complexion, height, and is naturally beautiful like his all time love Diana Ross. And MJ said he was attracted to women with class. Kelly seems pretty classy to me. MJ did love chocolate, his chef, Kelly Rowland. Good taste.
