Mariah Carey, Jermaine Dupri & B. Cox Continue Work On New Album

Published: Thursday 15th Apr 2010 by Trent

Check out some new footage of Mariah Carey, Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox in the studio. The trio are still in the early stages of creating Carey’s next studio release which has yet to be given a projected release date. Last evening, Dupri contacted noted producer Teddy Riley via Twitter who expressed interest in working on the LP. Riley, who has never previously worked with Carey, is best known for his work on Whitney Houston’s ‘Step by Step’, Michael Jackson’s ‘Remember The Time’ and Lady GaGa’s ‘Teeth’. {Source}

This is exactly what Carey needs. By working with producers that she has never collaborated with before, she will be able to create a fresh sound for her music and regain that artistic edge that separate her from the pack of her imitators. Hopefully, Carey will take herself to new places with this project and find the hit that she now desperately needs.

2 comments so far. Guess no one really cares about Mariah Carey anymore.
She is probably going to flop in her music.

  4. Jadd April 15, 2010

Or maybe people are still sleeping??????

I care, and I think it’ll be fantastic

Make peace with Walter Afanasieff and collaborate with him again please, Mariah! I want another My All/ Underneath the Stars/ Can’t Let Go!

  6. jjfan1814 April 15, 2010

Im actually excited. HOPE IT DOESNT FLOP! MC + JD = HEAVEN

  7. KNUCK April 15, 2010

Hmm.. I will say that Walter would get her together lyrically.. But I don’t know how his type of songs would work with mariah’s state of mind. Plus, she still shades him. Mariah needs to learn how to be youthful and still make mature, timeless music.

I think Teddy Riley could be hot for mariah because he understands what working with greatness means and the responsibility to create a classic. I think JD really gets that and B. C** has done classics (see “Be Without You” by mary j)..

The Dream needs to realize that no one will remember these nursery rhymes years from now. He needs to create “bigger” records, not these recycled, microwave records.

I liked mariah with DJ Toomp on E=MC^2 as well.

I don’t know what you mean by desperate need of hit. Some people seem to forget that Mariah had a smash hit with ‘Obsessed.’ It’s not like she hasn’t had a hit in years like some of her female peers.

  12. Dennis April 15, 2010

  13. avramhanti April 15, 2010

i like you werry much, please reed me samthing…kisss you!

  14. Craver April 15, 2010

I don’t know about any “artistic edge”…Mariah just needs producers that can 1) Make her age-appropriate music 2)help her cater to her “new” vocal range. Mariah just doesn’t want to let herself grow up, basically.

  15. X,Y,”and Z” April 15, 2010

@Trent — In ALL-seriousness: do you think they can “bring MC back?” Now, mind you, I don’t know too-much ’bout MC; not really into her music, but, again, I’ll ask (in all seriousness): If JD couldn’t “resuscitate/bring-back” Janet Jackson, what makes you think they can revive MC? ….And this that’s a question NOT-based in ‘malice’, ‘shade’ nor ‘ill-intent’; I just want to get your idea, given the climate we’re in? …I.E.: Sade, Monica, “Freshly-labeled J-L0″, Gaga, AJ, Bey, JanetJ, Brandy …… I’m sure you get were I’m going with this………..!!!

    X,Y,”and Z” — OUT!

X,Y,”and Z” you’re absolutely right u dont kno much about M C bcuz if u did u wud know that Jermaine Dupree and company are the ones who brought Mariah back the first time with The Emancipation of Mimi even tho with Janet he flopped each time. It wasn’t until she started working with The Dream more that her career actually took a different turn regardless of Obsessed’s success. So I actually think by goin back to J D is a great move for her because ever since they’ve been working together she has been mearly unstoppable.

  17. CocoPuffs April 15, 2010

Mariah should just quietly and professionally work on her new project. JD and crew engage in too much coonery. the ustream last week was adequate for a long while. This right here though is a mess esp this early in the game. Just get the work done Mariah and dont associate youself with this kind of junk. People will be interested in due time, but you just shelved one project dont jump from the frying pan into the fire with jokes and sillyness. Give us some timeless music and keep the party for off camera.

  18. X,Y,”and Z” April 15, 2010

@Mustafa Moyer — Now here I am, asking a perfectly-honest question; and there YOU-are, giving me all-sorts of ‘Funky Attitude!’
…I ALREADY said: “I didn’t know,” and had questions! …If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have said that “I didn’t know,” IN THE FIRST PLACE; so why come at me, and reiterate what I had ORIGINALLY state? …A “perfectly-simple question”, deserved, no-less-than, a “perfectly-simple answer”: WITHOUT YOUR B****-A**’ND-NESS!
….So now, JUST for trying to “SHOW-YOUR-A**”, I’ll make it my-duty to (at/on-EVERY-POST, ’bout MC) REMIND EVERYONE: Eminem used Mariah Carey as his-personal Urinal; that NOW, Nick Cannon is “tasting Eminem’s Urine” – ‘with each-and-every Kiss,’ HE gives MC; MC is heavily-into “Water Sports”, that MC is a FAT, OLD, BARREN and thus WILL-Forever-BE-Childless H**!

    …Will someone…..ANYONE: invent a Time-Machine and take this “Human Fire-Hydrant” back to the 80’s?

    ….NEXT…..

    X,Y,”and Z” — OUT!

  19. germaine April 15, 2010

  25. cash April 16, 2010

@CRAVER & OTHERS ALIKE : some of you people forget mariah writes, produces, arranges & sings ALL her own music. She came into the game writing & co-writing her own music and still does, the only songs she has not written on her own are covers. Aside from the lackluster sales of “Memoirs”, the album garnered some of her best reviews in the last decade, a lot of critics compared it to the masterpiece that was “Butterfly”, thats a feat in its own. Mariah didn’t need to sell 5 million copies for the album to be a success. Mariah’s voice is still in tact, & she can still sing circles around ya faves. she is still belting out emotions when she was on tour, have you heard 100% ?, once again her voice is showcased, I wanna know what love is live, epic. listen to the whole “Memoirs” album, then tell me she cant sing.

  26. Ben April 16, 2010

What she needs to Teddy Riley, not JD.
