It’s been over a decade since R&B singers Monica and Brandy had their monster hit ‘The Boy Is Mine’. Now, in an interview with HipHollywood.com, Monica has revealed that a followup to the tune may be in the works. The ‘Still Standing’ singer was reacting to the recent praise she received from Brandy and used the opportunity to discuss how they ended their notorious feud. Check out the video below:
The possibility of hearing two of R&B’s most gifted singers sharing the mic on a ballad is exciting to say the least. Both women have grown vocally and musically since their last duet so the possibilities of what they can create together seem endless. However, if they wish to target a mainstream audience, then a track in the same vein as Monica’s ‘Mirror’ or ‘Everything To Me’ would be ideal. The last thing anyone wants is the snooze fest that was her duet with Keyshia Cole on ‘Trust’.

“Ending Feud”? I don’t think they ever had a feud, just something that the media sensationalized. The only thing I recall is Monica being upset that Brandy performed ‘THE BOY IS MINE’ without her on a major TV show back in the day! Other than that, they’ve always respected each other’s artistry!

I love to see them supporting eachother like that. Monica was spot on with her explanation as well. The media really does create feuds when they compare other female artists to eachother and unfortunately it always gives in. Look at the current batch of R&B artists now such as Rihanna, Ciara, & Keri Hilson. I think they all want to support each other but the media is always comparing them to one another and who’s the most successful, it kinda sucks. Friendly competition is good, but not one it comes to who has the better looks and album sales.

Im so proud of my two favorite artist coming togethor and just supporting each other. Monica has been doing her thing and letting people know she is STILL STANDING! Another collabo would be great, I actually remember when they were rivaling, but man, that was back when there was so much good R&B talent going on to rival against. And everybody had their own time to shine, as opposed to now where there is only room for one top diva, or one top dude killin’ it.
