For months there has been increased murmurings regarding whether Mariah Carey is with child. Though pregnancy speculation has long followed the 41 year old diva, it intensified after Carey abruptly pulled out of Tyler Perry’s star-studded movie ‘For Coloured Girls…’ days before filming was to commence – citing “medical reasons”.

Now, Carey’s husband of two years, Nick Cannon, appears to be shutting down such talk. Check out what the America’s Got Talent host had to say after the jump…

And there you have it…

Randomness: It must be said, though; the media obsession with whether such and such is pregnant is rather insensitive at times. Granted baring children at a certain point in one’s life (particularly after marriage) is society’s “norm”, often ignored it seems is the possibility of it being potentially difficult for the Mariah’s and Janet’s of this world to conceive in the first instance. Worse still, what of the stars bombarded with pregnancy questions who may physically be unable to bare children?

Yes, there will always be mass interest in the private lives of artists (comes with the territory), yet a little restrain from some media outlets wouldn’t go amiss. Just saying…

    Didn’t it occur to anyone else that the reason she pulled out of “For Colored Girls” wasn’t because she was pregnant, but because she’d just suffered a miscarriage? That would be the “medical reason.”

    She’s probably getting fat from what ever meds she’s taking to get pregnant. Poor thing! But I’m glad she pulled out of For Colored Girls. I wish Tyler Perry would pull out too. He’s a disaster as a director. And that is the quintessential play about African-American women. I hope the film does it justice.

    Anyway, I wish Mariah and Nick the best. I hope they do successfully conceive a child, although I understand that it becomes much more difficult and risky for a woman to do when she’s past 35. Maybe they could consider surrogacy?

    Mariah either can’t get pregnant or she doesn’t want children. I don’t see the point in beating around the bush. I just saw a new photo of her yesterday posted on MDJ and didn’t see a belly. I think she could have done Colored Girls. And this wasn’t posted on MDJ, so what Nick said must not be accurate.

    By the way, Sam, Janet’s eggs are long rusty and she’s long out of her childbearing years. She doesn’t want children anyway. Had she wanted kids, she would have had one a long time ago.

    Whatever the case I wish them the best. However since it seems Mariah has put on some lbs, maybe she should dress more appropriately. There’s nothing wrong with gaining a little weight but don’t try to dress like you’re still smaller because it doesn’t look right.
