Speak Now, Taylor’s latest album missed the cut-off date for this year’s Grammys. This years Grammys are for albums released from September 1, 2009 to September 30, 2010. Speak Now was released October 25, 2010.
However, Speak Now will have some stiff competition in 2012 against albums from Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, and others.

Loud is not flopping at all. As for “Only Girl” and “What’s My Name”, how is it that they’re flopping if they are both still in the top 5? They can’t really climb higher than they already have…and Rated R may have been snubbed but it was critically acclaimed – don’t deny that. As for LTWYL, she sang the chorus and she will receive a Grammy should it win. Also, Record of the Year is far more prestigious than Best Vocal Performance.

Again, if LTWYL wins for a SONGWRITER’S award, Rihanna won’t receive a Grammy. If LTWYL wins for a NON-SONGWRITER’S award (Record of the Year), she will receive a Grammy. Therefore, she could earn 3 Grammy’s in February.

Okay, people need to stop saying that Rihanna is nominated for 4 Grammys! She is only nominated for 1 for “Only Girl” and is a featured artist in Eminem’s song “Love The Way You Lie.” It would be different if they did a duet like how Alicia Keys and Jay-Z did for “Empire State of Mind,” Notice it says Jay-Z & Alicia Keys, not Jay-Z featuring Alicia Keys. So if “LTWYL” wins, it’s Eminem’s win and Rihanna will get a Grammy for it depending on the writing credits which I believe she has none. Even if she does get a Grammy, it’s for being apart of someone else’s work, not her own so I don’t wanna hear that she won these Grammys when it wasn’t her own song.

The good thing is that my parents only speak Japanese when we’re around each other (except when my mum’s family visits) and that one of my closest friends whom I see frequently is Korean-speaking. I am always afraid, though, that the other two languages will be lost. That’s why I’m hoping that I will be able to live in Korea for a bit.
The difficult part about dominant languages is that they don’t seem to fade at all for ease, they stick with you. Except for my middle school French teacher. Her native language was English but she had forgotten many words and how to spell.
It’s also helpful to speak another language for jobs, but that’s mostly for Spanish and Chinese, as of late. However, it does seem like most any language can be helpful in some profession.

‘Graffit’ wasn’t a bad album though. He had some good material on there.
“Take My Time’ and ‘Movie’ were both really great r&b records.
I think he should have been nominated for ‘Crawl’. I think that one of his best records lyrically and vocally. When he perfrormed that at the BET SOS Haiti telethon, he sounded amazing. It was such a great record that got ignored.
But whatevs! I am just so happy to see that my boy got recognition for his hard work! So many people (mostly Rih stans) counted him out and said he would never reach this level again and I’m estatic that he PROVED THEM WRONG!!! I loved “Deuces”, so yes, that was obvious to me that it would receive a nod. However, Graffiti…I don’t know it just didn’t seem like it would happen.
Graffiti was a great record and I loved that it was very R&B-influenced, so it’s great that that album received nominations and was noticed. I do agree with you about “Crawl” though. That song is absolutely stunning and his SOS performance was amazing. The fact that THAT song wasn’t nominated individually is somewhat crazy to me
I don’t understand what is going on with Rihanna stans. A lot of Chris Brown stans may not like Rihanna, but they don’t hate on her (some do) like so many Rihanna stans hate on Chris.

Exactly! The UK is so amazing to me musically because they have lots of hugely successful indie/alternative artists and lots of hugely successful mainstream artists. The US is the largest music market in the world but it’s difficult because you’re a nobody if you’re not a mainstream artist these days.
Even places like Japan are like the UK. Utada Hikaru is huge in Japan but her music, when compared to American music, fits under the R&B/alternative genre.
It’s happening quickly. I just want the labels to collapse quickly so that we have artists that have more talent reaching more success. There are so many amazing artists that are considered nobodies because they aren’t releasing generic dance music like everyone else.
I’m convinced that Beyonce is payin for grammy nods. Why is she nominated for a song that was nominated last year?

No (sane) person actually hates an artist, only the delusional stans that overhype everything their fave does and unnecessarily put down other artists. Then that dislike sometimes subconsciously transfers to that artist. Really, if I only met Beyoncé stans like S***, I would end up disliking Bey by association. Same with some Gaga stans. They need to calm down and realize that their behavior reflects on their fave. I’ve never had a problem with Adam Lambert, but I swear, he has stans that make people like Nicki look perfectly sane by comparison. Try saying he’s average (NOT terrible, just average) to his stans, and see if they won’t attack you like angry lions. Even he’s had to tell them off on Twitter.

I don’t think that that constitutes as a reason to stop liking someone’s music. You can hate their personality if you want to, but I think that music should be judged from an unbiased point of view.
I actually have Chris Brown’s 2nd and 3rd albums as well as the Fan of a Fan mixtape and a few of the songs from the In My Zone 2 mixtape. I really liked “Yeah 3x” so I’m hoping that it really does well on the charts to propel F.A.M.E. When does that come out anyways?

Agreed! I honestly think that that whole category is really stiff competition. Jay and Alicia, B.O.B. and ‘LTWYL’ were all huge this past year. I think ‘LTWYL’ is what’s expected to win, but since it’s also in several other categories I hope the ‘Deuces’ wins.
Just to think that CB is in a category with Eminem, Jay Z, A.Keys, Common and The Roots is just amazing! He is amongst a lot of talented people.

I actually commented on an Adam Lambert post on this other blog that I can’t name without MY COMMENT BEING HELD FOR MODERATION (TGJ! LOL), but his stans WENT AFTER ME. I only said that “For Your Entertainment” (the song) was a bad choice for a lead single for him.
Considering how poorly executed the previous Grammy nominations 2010, this is an improvement. It’s not perfect, I think Alicia Keys got snubbed and Rihanna should have gotten a “Rude Boy” nod, but it’s decent. Take a look at that R&B category! All of the underdogs that wouldn’t see the light of day on mainstream are in there! Congrats to Kem, Jaheim, El Debarge, and Faith!

Yes! I once tried to say that his vocals sounded a bit off in one performance and that the pitch sounded incorrect, and I was ATTACKED. I stan for Rihanna but even I admit that some of her performances aren’t great. Even stans should give construcitve criticism. How can you be a yes person? That’s true as well about making things seem like flops. An Adam Lambert stan once told me that “If I Had You” would become the most successful single of 2010 and it didn’t hit the top 20. The single didn’t flop by any means but saying things like that makes it seem that way.
I find it really funny that some of Rihanna’s stans on this website said that Loud would sell 400,000+ first week (one person said 5 million and then said that would be a disappointment) and then have conveniently yet to mention the real first week sales. I know, most of the Muse fans on the band’s forum, and in the YouTube comments, HATE Twilight because of that. I don’t care for the books or films, but if there’s ONE thing that can come out of that highly overrated series, it’s exposure to good bands. I discovered Muse and Paramore four years ago, yet because I’m a black teenage girl, telling older Muse fans that I’m a fan of them means they automatically assume that I’m a Twilight fan, especially since I like pop music.
The problem is that here in New York, we only have one (that I know of) major rock station. So therefore, bands like Muse don’t get much exposure, although Uprising has been played to death. I discovered them on Fuse TV, and listened to their other songs on satellite radio, hence becoming a fan. I discovered Regina on VH1, she was featured on “Artists You Oughta Know”.

We used to have more rock stations, but over the course of the past few years they’ve shut down and been replaced by Top 40 pop stations. The last one that got shut down was K-rock in 2007 (or 2008). Imagine my shock when I tuned in to it one day, only to hear The Black Eyed Peas instead of Stone Temple Pilot or Pearl Jam. I thought I accidentally turned the dial on the wrong station, but nope, they got shut down. I was so angry. So from that point on, I just stopped voluntarily listening to mainstream radio. Only time I turn on my radio is during the holidays to hear Christmas songs.

Manhattan is perfect for work and play, and Brooklyn is perfect for living in. It’s less hectic. One thing I despise about Manhattan is the traffic jams. @Drew, I know and its cool. But some others (not you) were making it seem as album sales and #1 hits on charts were the ONLY reason an album is nominated. Since ‘Graffiti’ was nominated, despite selling less than its counterparts and never charting #1, perhaps it was chosen based on other reasons.
Also I love the nice, calm chat between some posters (True Blue, Rihanna Forever, VA Stand Up, etc). It overshadows the negativity that was posted earlier. Good job!

Damn, Steven’s been canceled for a whole year, and I didn’t even know! I discovered some alternative bands through that show, and Steven was my favorite Fuse VJ.
It was the only program dedicated solely to rock music on that station. Looks like they’ve MTV’d themselves. Looks like it’s only a matter of time before reality shows replace the music.
BTW, I’ve been to Vancouver, BC, so I know what you mean about the crappy weather. It is quite depressing. Although when I’m in New York, I love cloudy wet weather, strangely enough.

He had Hot 100 hits, r&b hits, critics reviewed his album well, he had a BET docu-series, and an MTV Unplugged, he was on three tours , 1 with Monica , 1 with Jay Z, and one with Usher right now where he is getting better reviews in newspapers then Usher.

@Drew, I agree, award shows are popularity contests especially the ones that ask for viewers to vote on their site. An artist talent and works should always play a role but sometimes people are biased at least with the Grammy’s you know the choosing is based on merit too. And I agree with you about Nicky. I remember when I tried giving some advice and speak some common sense to him (?) it was a waste of time. I was literally talking to a brick wall. I don’t understand why someone is so obsessed with a person they dislike but know more about their projects than some fans do. Its pathetic.
@True Blue, the ongoing attacks were the main reason I left but now I’m back. I tried for so long to be the peacemaker and, although there were a few people who agreed with me, for the most part Nicky and Wire and some other stans continued the “stan wars.” I stan for my faves to an extent but never to the degree that some stans do – death threats made against artists and their family members and their fanbases. I’m not feeling Chris Brown being nominated for Best R&B Contemporary Album over Trey Songz for Passion, Pleasure and Pain or The Element of Freedom by Alicia Keys or Stronger with Each Tear by MJB, Graffiti was garbage in my opinion, Janelle Monae gets snubbed for Album of the Year but Teenage Dream gets nominated and they snubbed Soldier of Love in that category too. I’m shocked that Ride isn’t nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Commander isn’t nominated for Best Dance Recording. There were a lot of great songs and albums over looked this year: The Blueprint 3, The ArchAndroid, Teflon Don, Rated R, Russian Roulette. I’m sorry Chris Brown fans but I just don’t think he deserved those 2 nominations, his album is really bad to me and Deuces was not that epic or monumental of collaboration and I’ve never heard that song with Tank, so I can’t anything about that. My problem with the Grammy voters is that they only vote for who they think shoulg win, not who has the best album or song, so, as you can tell, I am biased against Chris Brown, so I was voting, even with or without hearing his album and let’s say that it was the greatest album of all time, I wouldn’t vote for it, that’s why I feel a lot of artists who Grammys just do because the people voting like them more than other artists

The Grammys’ selections are based on a voting committee of other musicians and industry insiders, so this is based on peers, not fans or popularity. CB’s peers may feel Graffiti showed alot of musical maturity compared to the rest of his catalogue. The same can go for R. Kelly’s who has literally no radio airplay.
However, I can understand feeling Trey deserved a Grammy nomination because I would be upset if the shoe was on the other foot. *Kanye shrug*

I’m happy for everyone who was nominated congratulations.
Like every one else, I was surprise not to see Deuces, but it want surprise me if Chris Brown would win at least one Grammy Award. The only reason why I’m surprise to see Graffiti is because it was black balled. But I own Graffiti and it is a great album and for that I am not surprise it made the nominee cut.
This only tell me that Chris Brown is know longer black ball from the industry.
I will do my part by not fighting with the fav of his ex it is fruitless, I’m not here to slay, but to have fun and state facts.
And it is a fact that Chris Brown was nominated 3 times and that is wonderful.

Actually she is nominated for four awards. ‘Only GIrl’ is her only solo nomination. ‘LTWYL’ is nominated 3 times. That’s four total. Where do you get 6 or 7?? If Eminem wins for Album of the year, it will be his Grammy, not hers. SMH! Rih stans always reaching trying to give her more credit than what she deserves.
Congratulations to my girl Fantasia, by far the best R&B female in the game. Tropies for Best R&B Album and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance should definitely be in her trophy case come February.
Some of you are complaining but you do realize that the artist send in nominations for what they want to be considered for nominations and then the grammy panel (there are a lot of people on that panel) choose from that list. This is the reason why some of the newer material are nominated. I think some of the categories are dead on this year.

I’m not feeling Chris Brown being nominated for Best R&B Contemporary Album over Trey Songz for Passion, Pleasure and Pain or The Element of Freedom by Alicia Keys or Stronger with Each Tear by MJB, Graffiti was garbage in my opinion, Janelle Monae gets snubbed for Album of the Year but Teenage Dream gets nominated and they snubbed Soldier of Love in that category too. I’m shocked that Ride isn’t nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Commander isn’t nominated for Best Dance Recording. There were a lot of great songs and albums over looked this year: The Blueprint 3, The ArchAndroid, Teflon Don, Rated R, Russian Roulette. I’m sorry Chris Brown fans but I just don’t think he deserved those 2 nominations, his album is really bad to me and Deuces was not that epic or monumental of collaboration and I’ve never heard that song with Tank, so I can’t anything about that. My problem with the Grammy voters is that they only vote for who they think shoulg win, not who has the best album or song, so, as you can tell, I am biased against Chris Brown, so I was voting, even with or without hearing his album and let’s say that it was the greatest album of all time, I wouldn’t vote for it, that’s why I feel a lot of artists who Grammys just do because the people voting like them more than other artists

1. Vocals aside, cause I do like her voice…but, I would be embarrassed if I was a Beyonce stan… Nominated for a song you were nominated and done won last year is kinda pathetic…it does not add to her credibility but takes away from it imo. It just goes to show you how money influences votes and the conflict of intrest of her manager being on the grammy board. It also, to me, makes you come off as thirsty and desperate to “break records”…thats just str8 up beasting to me.
2. Katy Perry…..VOCAL performance….LMFAO. How does Teenage Dream get nominated over You Lost Me for vocal performance? 3. The only Dance Tracks that deserve to win a grammy is Robyn and La Roux….those songs were AMAZING

Regardless if he had 4 hits on Graffiti he got little to no air play, he was black balled and his album was shelved in the back of department store warehouses not even put out for people to buy. Chris Brown was punish not only by the court system but by the merchants and the music industry!
Our guy kept his head up and kept on singing even for free, I’m happy that the Grammy is even acknowledging Graffiti. Chris Brown has come a long way.

Graffiti sucked. Plain and Simple. “Can’t Be Friends” and “Made to be Together”>>>>>>>>> Anything on Graffiti. And s** songs should not matter. Ready got nominated last year. And Pleasure P’s album and singles got nominated last year and they were all about s**. Trey got shafted. Hopefully, this will humble him and he puts out spectacular music and they will have to nominate him.
But I hate when ppl compare them. Trey is an R&M/hip-hop artist. CB is more pop. He’s considered more “urban” now b/c of the incident, and I don’t think he can ever make it fully back to the pop markets. And even if Graffiti got a nod. How the hell did Ryan Leslie’s album get one? The only thing is janky. But As a Trey fan from the beginning, we are used to things like this. We are used to him fighting and being the underdog

When will you simple ass fools realize that Trey’s album came out AFTER the deadline! Damn! It’s not CB’s fault that ‘Graffiti’ got the nomination and Trey didn’t! Why the f*ck are ya’ll mad! Clearly the panel felt like ‘Graffiti’ was Grammy worthy material or eles they wouldn’t have gave him the nod.
It kills me how people think that just because ‘they’ think something sucks that it shouldn’t be nominated! GTFOH! It doesnt matter what YOU think! It’s not based on sales, critics reviews or how many hit singles it produced! It’s based on quality and ‘Graffiti’ was a GREAT album that got overlooked due to his scandal. Thank God the Grammy panel realized that!
FYI: CB HAS always been considered an r&b artist! His first album was completely r&b! He did pop on his second album but it was still primarily r&b and he has always been nominated in r&b cateogories. CB has always had more success, awards and accolades than Trey! So yes there is no point in comparing the two because CB will always win!
It doesn’t matter how anyone feels about Trey’s material over CB’s, CB got the nomination, Trey didn’t!!! Get over it! CB is the comeback kid, Trey can have next year…maybe.
Also Ryan Leslie had a incredible album too! He deserved his nom as much as CB did! Underdogs are taking over! Lol!

Pink was not snubbed for Funhouse, that album came out in 2008 and many of her singles were nominated last year…I believe she got a nod or two for something relating to Glitter in the Air….and she is the songwriter of “Whataya Want From Me” and this song is Adam Lambert’s first Grammy nod for Best Pop Male Vocal…so, Pink very relevant this year still.

Albeit, he had the #1 r&b hip hop cut for ten weeks (still#2) & #1 movie TAKERS (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER/ACTOR) at the same time.
He took money out of his pockets and MADE HISTORY…THE FIRST MIXTAPE CUT TO BE NOMINATED FOR A GRAMMY.There are no excuses worth a damn; all of those albums were submitted and made the deadline… ALL OF THEM.
Ur fav is ur fav but don’t try to diminish Chris’ accomplishments for whatever reasons. U may not have liked Graffiti, a whole lot of others did!
