R&B vixen Ciara continued along the promotional trail for her ‘Basic Instinct’ LP tonight, appearing on The Mo’Nique Show. Recorded last week (yet aired tonight), the dynamo performer turned in rousing showings of singles ‘Gimmie Dat’ and ‘Ride’. In the case of the latter, the performance served as her first televised rendition of the Urban smash.

While I much preferred the more polished products that were her ‘Ellen’ and ‘Lopez Tonight’ performances, Ciara once again showed why she stands and head and shoulders above the pack. I’ve said it before and will continue to re-assert: Ms Harris is undeniably one of the best performers the industry has birthed for some time. What she lacks in vocal prowess, she more than negates with her raw energy and insane precision. She is, to put it simply, ‘that’ chick. And while record sales may say otherwise, performances such those she’s been offering as of late, indicate that she will be around for some time to come.

This performance proves that there was no reason to ban her video from BET. I don’t understand how you can ban a video and not a live performance of the same choregraphy/content in the video… I know it’s considered ‘late night tv’ but still… I’m rooting for Ciara… first week sales don’t determine her future success. Both performances was incredible. Basic Instinct is one of the better album of 2010 as well… Love Ciara and her new album…

I still love you ci. you and your team need to get it together! Get back to that evolution feel. The whole album had an amazing sound. Who has had a record like “Promise” anytime recently? you were doing your own thing and it was an Urban smash. Take a break and FOCUS.
“Gimme Dat” isn’t really your audience’s cup of tea. And I loved “Speechless” but the video was p*** poor and there was no promotion. I just don’t know anymore.

I don’t know how anyone can be happy for Ciara to flop. At least with her after watching her performances I am entertained. She is great performer. It seems people do not like to support talent any more. I would rather see her on these awards shows performing rather than Katy Perry, Kesha or Taylor Swift.

CICi only has one element and that’s the stage and she’s pretty. JAnet is prettier, better performer, musically and vocally better and a song writer. CICi needs to chanllenge her self its too early in her career to go back to basics and too early in her career to flop this hard. She did great as always. Ciara is talented and I believe she will go far. It’s obvious her label issues are the reason for the recent problems because when she is on stage you can’t deny her talent and drive.

Damn that was a small stage for “Gimmie Dat”. Though, I prefer her Lopez Tonight perfomance she still killed the stage with both acts. Sidenote: How the hell does BET ban the video Ride but allow her to perform the song using the same (slighty censored) moves from the video? ……I’ll gladly pay to see Beyonce, Ciara, Lady Gaga, Chris Brown, and Usher in concert because each know how to perform and put on an excellent show.
In terms of the “vocals’ that some people are talking about, I don’t think Ciara OR Rihanna can sing that well. However, Ciara’s voice is somewhat more pleasant on the ears. My opinion though. These artists don’t depend on vocal prowess, but on putting on a show. If they just stood there and sang, it wouldn’t be so great. Not saying they can’t sing, but they just aren’t the best. Regardless, Ciara KILLED these performances, and I’m sorry to hear she did terrible on sales, but she’s still relevant, and she’s not going anywhere!
Some notes about these performances…
-She is not singing live. She is miming to a re-recorded “live” vocal.
-I actually like the sound of her voice and believe she can sing.
-I’ve heard her sing live before and she actually sounded fine (but she wasn’t dancing).
-Promo for this album was a HUGE fail since it started after the release of the album.
-I believe there’s still time with future singles and better planning for the CD to be a success.
-I look forward to hearing more and think she’s gonna be just fine.
