Jennifer Hudson made a promotional appearance on ‘The Ellen Degeneres Show’ today. In addition to a short interview, the R&B singer belted out a rendition of her new single, ‘Where You At’, from her upcoming album, ‘I Remember Me’ (due on March 22nd).

That was an enjoyable performance until Hudson almost popped a vein in her neck near the end. I wonder if she honestly considers that high octave yelling musical (or pleasant) in any way? It was painful looking at her singing so imagine how she felt while doing it. Ouch.

Of course loose booty had something smart to say. She wasn’t even belting through the whole song, only certain parts. But, if it was MiMi he’d be praising her. & I didn’t see no strain & pain on her from hitting them notes. She even showed vibrato @ 2:25-2:30, so much for giving credit when it’s due. If he mad that MiMi can’t do it just quite like her? 😀 Get it Jenn! I swear she is wearing that confidence all over her. I love her sass & conviction.
All you haters need to go and find yourself. Jennifer Hudson is where she wants and deserves to be. This young multi-talented super star is the best female vocalist today hands down. Jhud is just getting started!!!

I didn’t find anything wrong with the performance. I see that Jennifer and her label are starting to realize that J-Hud is still young, and needs to dress according to her age. Now the weight is off, there is no excuse and they finally made the right choice with this piece. As for the single, it’s a little snoozy I’ll admit but it compliments her vocal prowess and is a grower. This performance was great and proves that she is one of the best voices in the industry. As for that last note, it’s more the facial expression that was disturbing. We all know she has no trouble getting up there range-wise… the hate was definitely uncalled for.
Jen looked and sounded great. She sang the life out of that song. Trent needs to stop talking like he knows s*** about music or the voice. Jen has been singing in the same way for YEARS, if her technique was “yelling” and “painful” she would have done lost her voice or made it deteriorate, yet she comes back harder each time and still slaying the vocals. Even her studio technician said her voice is getting stronger.
