Tonight saw the British media out in full force for Keisha Buchanan‘s solo launch.
Held at the trendy Jacques Townhouse, That Grape Juice were in the house at the Central London event, which saw the former Sugababe present live premieres of a number of tracks from her debut solo album (which has been 18 months in the making).
As yet untitled, the Island (Universal Music) set is due for release before the year’s end. And if tonight’s showing is anything to go by, the UK industry is about to be all shaken up by Hurricane Buchanan. For, with her sublimely rich and powerful vocals, she offers something this side of the pond can’t boast much of (beyond Alexandra Burke and Leona Lewis).

OMG!Everything is wrong.The songs (especially; they sound like Sugababes rejects and even below that level), the image, the attitude, even the timing.I couldn’t even watch more than 1 min from the snippets…Now I know whose fault it was that Sugababes were flopping in the 6th and 7th album.

This girl is going to be BIG! At the end of the day she can just sang her head off. I’m officially a fan of her. The Sugarbabes were twisted for letting this girl go. Can’t wait for the album. I hope she has acoustic stuff like this on the album. Gettem’ Keisha!

Mostly all UK artists are flops. And the ones that succeed get their influences from americans. Like adele, jessie j, leona lewis. British people know american music is what sells all around the world so they like to imitate our culture. And I admit, no other country does it better than Britian. But every country knows american music is THE BEST. People can come for me if they want, but they know it’s partly true.

So true. Adele has always been true to herself, and 21 is just a progression from her album 19. There is no American influence in her music.
I loved Sugababes from day 1 and i think everyone should be given a chance. Keisha is talented, i don’t think that she should waste her talent. It is great that she is going for a solo career!!!

comparing keisha to leona lewis and alexandra Burke is ridiculous. leona is dull as dishwater to many, but her vocal ability is unquestioned. alexandra is also at the very high end of vocal talent. they had to be exceptional singers to win X-Factor. keisha is very, very standard singer. she’s no better than a lot of girls in local talent shows who never make it, and she’s not good enough to impress Americans on vocals alone. there are better singers that don’t get past the audition stages of American Idol. She’s improved a bit since she was with sugababes and taken some vocal lessons, but watching her get out of breath every 2 seconds singing girls just wanna have fun told it’s own story. she also goes out of tune too much, but she was much worse with the sugababes. it’s painful hearing her hit bum notes so often. she’s a decent singer, but she’s not a genuine consistent, powerhouse like leona or alexandra, who don’t hit bum notes very often. kiesha at best is an above average singer (like the filipino girl from The Saturday, vanessa) who shines perfectly in a group setting). leona and alexandra are exceptional, which i think you have to be. on the positive side, she has more soul and passion than Leona, but she’s not exactly Mary J Blige and isn’t soulful enough to compensate for her technical deficiencies. keisha is talented, but in reality, a dark skinned black girl like her probably has to be as vocally talented as alexandra or jennifer hudson to stand a chance, and she don’t come close to burke or hudson vocally.

First Iiked most the video toward the end she came into her own, second it was a acoustic set she didn’t have any backing singer just her & a guy playing a guitar so you will lose your breath being human. But she did her thing I hope she charts well solo. Now let see her sing with a full band.

She is average and you are right there is no way this girl is as goos as Alexandra Burke or Leona Lewis no way. Her performance of run the world is so weak if she went on x factor she would not get passed boot camp. i would give her a 3.5/10 if Beyonce is 10/10
