I luv Drake but he’s too young as far as his time in the rap game. I still consider him a newbie and so he has a long way to go to prove himself. Nicki Minaj too. That goes for anyone else on the list to who hasn’t done 5 solid relevant years in the game. Luda, Em, Busta, Wayne, Kanye, and Common are all top contenders in my book. Not a huge fan of Jay but he deserves his props too. But if I had to pick just 1, it be Ludacris. He’s definitely one of the most underrated and by far one of the best. My alternate would be Eminem!

Back on topic, I really thought that this poll would be about rappers that reign either because of their talent or because of their sales.Most of the people on there are neither successful nor talented, so I don’t see why some better, more popular and more talked about rappers (T.I., Wu-Tang, Biggie, 2pac) were excluded.And maybe 2Pac and Biggie were exluded because they have passed away, but 15 years after their respective deaths they are still much more popular than the majority of the names on that poll.

Nelly and Diddy should be removed because they are irrelevant and aren’t lyrical enough to even be considered the reigning emporer of hip hop.
Tyler The Creator, Drake, Big Sean and Nicki Minaj are way too new to the game to even be registered.
Lil Kim, and Foxy Brown are hasbeens and haven’t dropped great album material in like almost a decade.
Lil Mam – has only dropped one album making her disqualified
While The Game and Rick Ross have to step their game up more if they want to even be considered.

Eminem – is the only respected and loved white mainstream artist. He has consistently dropped classics and brought something different to the game that has made him loved known and respected by ppl of many different ethnic backgrounds. To top it off he is the best slling too.
Nas – Has dropped Illmatic the best hip hop album of all time, and after that has dropped countless classics filld with top notch lyricism. And has been countless times been considered the king of hip hop
Kanye West – he is different from the normal rapper by not bragging about how hood he is making him more relateable to numerous ppl. Sure he may be over the top but he has dropped countless gems.
Snoop Dogg – sure ppl may call him wack but that doesn’t take away from the classics he dropped in the past. He is one of the most popular and respected rappers for a reason.
Jay Z – he’s just Jay – Z everyone knows he’s th king
Lil Wayne – whether you like it or not he’s one of the best selling, popular and respected rappers out right now. Don’t believe me look it up.

50 Cent – well he fell off way too quickly
Common – sure he’s good but King don’t know bout that

Even though Joe Camel irks my nerves, you can’t deny that fact that he is still one of the most consistent, relevant, and successful rappers there is today. Even though he is old as fuck he still is shitting on other vets and rookies in the Game. People say he should retire but why retire when you are still making hits, selling albums and getting Grammy nods?He just is the King…right now anyways.
Next in line would for me would be Kanye, but that’s just cause I personally love Ye. He really is my fave rapper and the only one on the list I can honestly say I will probably always support. Eminem would probably be in the top 3. I’m not a huge fan but I can’t deny he is a lyrical genius, consistent, respected and successful. Many people already consider him the King of rap. Honestly, Lil Wayne wouldn’t even be in my top 5. He just really annoys me. *shrugs*
Snoop Dogg, Nas, Busta, Common and Ludacris are all respected veterans in the Game who have made an impact but I don’t think anyone would consider them Kings of rap. Not to discredit any of them though.
Big Sean & Drake are too young to be considered yet. They haven’t put in enough years or albums to be in the running. Rick Ross ain’t young, but he hasn’t released enough material to really be considered either.
I guess J. Cole was left off the list cause he hasn’t released an album yet, but he is definitely one to look out for too. I LOVE him and really think he is gonna be one the most respected rappers of his generation. Even though I think Joe Camel is screwing him over at Roc Nation. SMH.

I can live with Jay Z being called the King of Rap for this particular post. He did drop a few classics (Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint)… But we all know that Nas would kills him lyrically (ie. ETHER, Dead Presidents… Hell! EVEN J. COLE’S VERSION OF DEAD PRESIDENTS WAS BETTER THAN JAY Z’S #FACT). I think J incarnates it all: creativity, longetivity, stage presence, influence, lyrics… Yeezy is good, and no one can touch him when it comes to creativity, but there are others in the game who r better than him. Eminem is on another level. He’s got really good lyrics and he incited all them white rappers to come out yet there remains but one Em, his creativity isn’t something to boast about, but he’s done a lot for the industry and he’s been around for more than a decade. When I’m talking about creativity I’m talking about the music vids. Otherwise Em makes good music, but J’s been around much longer and he’s still relevant. And I’m not basing myself on J’s money but on his talent. Drake just came out, and honestly his lyrics don’t stand a chance against some of these guys, I’m not a Lil’ Wayne fan but he’s def doing something to the industry, NM is pop, anyone I didn’t mention is because I don’t think they’re relevant or they got nothing on J, Kanye and Em. I got mad respect for veterans like Busta and Nas, but I haven’t heard their songs in a while. Some of them are still around but they’re not what they used to be (Snoop). Otherwise they’re all VERY talented but in a diff way that makes them each individual kings in their own right, but J is the embodiement of it all.

they are new, and have not proven themselves yet.
they need stability and its too soon for them

I CANNOT TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY! This is all tom-f***king foolery the object of the poll was who IS the Rap’s Reigning Emperor NOT who WAS(HAS BEEN) or WILL BE. AS IN RIGHT NOW YOU STAN HEADS! Lil Kim has not released a relevant song since i can remember, no shade but shade… Nicki has crossed into Pop and i don’t even really consider her to be Rap anymore, no shade but shade… I really do like both artist though i just hate for ppl to sit at a computer and start messy arguments on behalf of either of them. Can we at least get some new drama and tea before you all keep repeating the same ish over and over with every story or post. For the other half of the people on the list, non of them have either been on someone else’s single or have their own so 40% of the ppl on this list have already had several seats. for the ones still stand’n in my opinion : Lil Wayne, Busta Ryhmes, Ye’, Jay, The Game(whom i have not heard a hot single from yet),Rick Ross, Big Sean and Eminem(Kinda). Busta, Big Sean and The Game are really still fighting album sales/production so i don’t completely rule them out but they aren’t as relevant as the last men standing…you can kinda rule out Eminem since he has becoming backed up from THE Recovery as all his means of still being relevant… I just know Lil Kim ain’t the Reigning Emperor of RAP. And i will not deal with Tyler T.C being considered with the list of names about. And if he made the list, where is Wiz????
