Mariah Carey Needs Your Help

Published: Tuesday 13th Sep 2011 by Sam

Some five months after popping out “dem babies”, Pop diva Mariah Carey is back to work.

The 41 year old mother of twins is preparing to amp up the recording efforts for her 14th studio album – and this time is asking for help from newcomers.

Full story below…

Renown for using a staple set of writers and producers, the songstress is, this go round, reaching out to up-and-coming producers and writers to relight the fire that was once her career.

Confirmation of such strategy comes in the form of a mail-out from an industry A&R agency acting on behalf of Ms. Carey-Cannon’s record label.

Given the state of her recent LP’s (Xmas opus aside), this was arguably the only way forward. After all, how many more nightmare tracks could one endure from her efforts with The-Dream, or ‘We Belong Together’ rehashes from Jermaine Dupri? As time has shown, sometimes it pays – quite literally – to explore pastures new. Kudos to Mimi and her team for finally getting the memo.

So happy that she’s making a new album. But please Mariah, don’t make generic pop songs, stick to R&B.

  2. beyonce fraud of this generation September 13, 2011

  3. MyCooL September 13, 2011

i would like to see her make pop music again w/hip hop hooks!! that worked best for her !!! girl needs to work with some of the same producers from the ‘MIMI’ album!!!(aside from jd)

  4. THEMAN September 13, 2011

Sam stfu, why couldn’t you just stick to the topic. You always gotta throw something into the mix. A few of her songs she worked with “The Dream”, on were amazing. JD does need to refresh his sound though. But she knows whats she’s doing. Her music is gonna be incredible. Great job on her part.

  11. WATEVA September 13, 2011

and wtf is up with peoplel saying “oh she should make r&b, noo she should go back
to making soul music” and w.e
Well *News flash* Mimi already been there and done that.
If that’s what you want to hear GO LISTEN TO HER
    OLD ALBUMS.
She has nothing, absolutely NOTHING to prove to anyone.
Let the woman make music she wants to.
These are the fans i cant stand.
I hope Mimi don’t listen to none of her fans telling her to do this and that and
just make her music SHE want to. /end rant

  16. Casual September 13, 2011

I love that she’s opening up to new talent. Great way to stay fresh and ahead of the curve.

  17. Teflon Boy September 13, 2011

In fairness to the critics and also to Mariah, her best work has often come during a period of freshening things up. Even E’ Mimi was a reaction to years of phoning in the same formula i.e. track 1. pop/dance song (Dreamlover, Honey, Heartbreaker, Loverboy) 2. Signature ballad () 3. song about a night in the meadow (Underneathe the Stars, Fourth of July) 4. duet with a 4-member boyband…, the formula went like that for years before Mimi changed the script a little. The other thing was that Mimi was a mature record and it did well because people were ready to see that from Mariah. Where she went wrong was mistaking that re-invigorated chart appeal with the public wanting to hear/see more of her regardless of the quality of the music…, hence why E=MC2 was so assured in its delivery yet sooo misguided in its reliance on mindless pop ditties and former glory rehashes. Nope, what the public want is a grown Mariah with solid music and great vocals talking about what she’s going through now…, not bleating about little girl-isms and Tommy Mottola.., Oh and that she shapes up gets a stylist. It’s time to look to new horizons and I hope this move brings what’s missing…, which to me has been genuine passion and inspiration (and I say all this as a fan).

  18. Remastered September 13, 2011

She should re-invent herself, like so many others do-a dance album would be cool (with RnB undertones)

  19. Lash September 13, 2011

Pray really hard redone ignores that request…

  20. kurtz September 13, 2011

She needs bruno mars, alicia keys, kanye west to produce her
and also Walter a. . . I mean come on mimi sort out the beef
with Walter get him producing you again oh and James poyser

  21. tahoegeminii September 13, 2011

ME-ME is an overrated stripper whose music has always been boring pop trash-now she is trying to suck the life from the new talent like a blood sucking vampire cause she SUCKS!! I hope no young REALLY talented people sell their souls to this wwhhorre trying to climb the ladder-we all know ME-ME hasn’t had a single good decision since she used up Tommy and threw him away-without him she was just another sllutty stripper trying to be a pop singer without Tommy making her front and center for Sony because he married her and launching THE MOST expensive marketing campaign of all time to make her a pop star she would be working the pole-so now that all that money Tommy made for her is running low do the fact that ME-ME spends money like the drunk mentally arrested no class-no taste sllutt that she IS-she wants to cry out for help-wahhh-maybe she should try selling some of the hideously ugly “designed by her” jewelry that is only worth the gold and gems in them-god help any “young talent ” that lets her sink her greedy whhorre claws into them_RUNNNN

  22. Robier September 13, 2011

    Smart MF move MIMI

  23. Yo Mama September 13, 2011

She’s gonna make another 50 year old lady attempt at street cred! 10 rent-a-rappers on each track…ebonic lyrics. She makes Sam look black!

  24. HBF82 September 13, 2011

The story is false. Very reliable Heroesofmariah.com just got info that the person ( the industry insider) is “taking liberties on Mariah’s behalf.”

  25. Fatima September 13, 2011

It’s really hilarious and sad to see TGJ continue to slight The Dream just because he dissed them once. He’s one of the most respected producers in the game today who has a great body of work and support from places that don’t hand out accolades easily like Pitchfork Media. Mariah’s last album was one of her best, it just had a 90s sound that didn’t catch on to radio. This site ALWAYS goes on about about how radio sucks so it’s funny to see them pick and choose that argument when they want to just so they can grind some transparent ax. PATHETIC.

  26. Busta September 13, 2011

Frikkin none of these people got any clue of their own?
Rihanna wants people to name her perfume, Kelly wants people to name her Album
Mariah wants people to write songs so she can thieve them
    lazy ass dames

  27. The Naked Truth September 13, 2011

I’ve been saying this for two years now. If Mimi wants a come back her album is going to need a Adele “21” sound and arrangement (With Mimi’s twist of course) I thought music like that was long lost from ever topping the charts again. But the fact that SLY sits on top of billboard that folks will still support RAW Talent! Nick said she has been drawing inspiration from her first 4 Albums for Number 14! Let’s hope this is true. While she is not the Vocal power house she once was (Been in the industry 20 years) she still sings CIRCLES around this new school of Musicians.

    YOU CAN DO IT MIMI!!!

  28. imadiva September 13, 2011

we need a ‘fantasy’ from her!

  29. imadiva September 13, 2011

we need a new ‘fantasy’ from her!!!

  30. JER September 13, 2011

The shade is tired. Mariah’s worst album filler is better than your favs lead singles. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel was a classic Mariah album, it had trendy moments and it had timeless grooves. Haters called it “Boring” and then turned around and jerk off to BeYAWNce’s 4lop album saying it’s “revolutionary” when not a year ago they were hollerin how “boring” Mariah Carey’s album was because it was all throw back R&B…. but when BIONCI does it it’s brilliant? PATHETIC

  31. I’ma have to send her to her maker September 13, 2011

    Dear Mariah,

Make songs like obsessed mixed with your old 90’s sound and you can knock these overrated ones like beyonce and rihanna out of here. (no shade rih)

  32. THEMAN September 13, 2011

Mariah is a vocal powerhouse, now she does things in different ways. Her lower register and whistle register have gotten even better. Her xmas album let all the naysayers know that she can do what she wants, even though she doesn’t owe them anything, because she is one of the most gifted vocalist period. This is gonna be amazing.

  33. THEMAN September 13, 2011

“Memoirs” is infact a trememndous album, it was very cohesive. Radio was a fool to overlook such a brilliant album.

  34. I’ma have to send her to her maker September 13, 2011

I forgot to mention Adele. I love her sincere lyrical music and voice but she gonna get played out real soon. I’m already sick of her. I only like one song by her and that’s rolling in the deep. Her others never clicked with me so I’m already tired of her. She’s too lady like and british like to take risks like american women and that’s why american singers are more admired. But of course mc can sing better than adele so if mc makes an album she betta come hard.

  35. G.U.S September 13, 2011

Mariah must work with David Guetta, Stargate for dance hits and walter affanaiseff for spectacular ballads and ryan tedder, symbolic one, kanye west…. <she has got singing high very high with her powerfull voice. they know that.

  36. sativa green September 13, 2011

first off, that last album was most of her best work! You must not the MiMi she was selling #1 singles before Beyonce was even auditioning for talent shows. I love Bey, but dont forget the who came before you! MAriah still got that hot ish and her voice is still poppin! So dont disrespect her! thank you

  37. Hassan September 13, 2011

    @TAHOEGEMINII

    LOL U make me LAF!

  38. Hassan September 13, 2011

    @TAHOEGEMINII

MiMi, is actually not overrated, and her music has been boring? Her music went to number ones, she is the only solo artist to have more number one then any other recording artist in the music industry. Climb up the ladder MiMi already has climbed up the ladder people want to climb up with her! Tommy didnt throw her she left him u muppet, do u ever read? Mariah is one of the worlds greatest singers. People like Beyonce, etc look up to Mariah! Next time plz go n read!

  39. THEMAN September 13, 2011

Mariah should just throw all kinds of sounds into the mix, with her own spin/twist on it. This should and could be brilliant.

  40. onyx September 13, 2011

Maybe i’m wrong but i never like Mariah voice, i never was impressed, there is something about her that i dont like, i don’t fell nothing, all these people saying she’s the best, u know is she is where she is 4 something i’m not gonna discuss that but i don’t know, i’m not a fan and i’m not a hater so don’t wasted your time with me is just my opinion. I’m not a fan of Whitney Houston but damn she really touch you when she sings, oh and Mariah Diva attitude is so fake, i just don’t like her is a matter of taste.

  41. JohnVidal September 13, 2011

Sam is ridiculous always trying to throw some kind of shade when talking about Mariah despite the fact that he loves her music and knows ahe is better than his favorites.
Back to Mariah: whatever she does will be great at this point. She always does it and songwrite it so this time won´t be different

  42. duce September 13, 2011

Another scam of that guy that acts on behalf of Mariah Carey and her team all the time… He went by the names Jess Corella, Allan Clayborn, etc. and is known for “stealing” independent artists’ music and putting it out as his own. I’ll believe it if it’s up on Mariah Carey dot com 😉

He framed me, and a lot of others too. Don’t buy it and DON’T PAY MONEY to submit!

  43. chrisanthemum7 September 13, 2011

wish she woulda called up Stevie or Quincy at some point, but hey! This’ll work too!

  44. Alejandro September 14, 2011

She needs 2 go back POP…this r&b hip hop isnt doing it 4 her….the Pop Mariah Excelled on the charts this Hip Hopish is getting old (As a whole)….We miss the Pop Mariah…and she needs 2 come bak…..#PopRevolution

  45. Randy September 24, 2011

It’s great to see so many Mariah fans so eager for new music! I’ve been a Mariah Carey fan since DAY 1 with Vision of Love! Mariah needs to move outside her comfort zone, and work with new producers. She definitely needs to reinvent herself with a new innovative song that will work for radio for a big comeback. She needs to lead with a big dance hit, and then her second single needs to be a classic Adele-styled ballad. I also believe she needs to be open to receiving songs already written, although I know she prefers to write.

  46. StripperBoiCandy November 17, 2011

i agree with THEMAN, infact, memoirs was my favorite album from Mariah since Charmbracelet, and Betcha Gon Know is still my all time fave song from Mariah, anyway, all of you stop arguing over stupid s*** Mariah is a great singer has always been and will always be so go get laid and STFU, Thanks, miss ya luv ya
