Since the existence of Amy Winehouse‘s 1st posthumous album – ‘ Lioness: Hidden Treasures‘ was confirmed this week, many of the late performer’s fans have anticipated the surfacing of one of the record’s songs.
Today, their wish came true.
Moments ago, a retro- soul cut named ‘Like Smoke‘ featuring Winehouse’s long time friend Nas found its way online.

Sure to generate an even greater buzz for its supporting album, Winehouse’s delivery in the song is both chilling and soothing, another reminder as to why she is heralded by many as being one of music’s more versatile vocalists.
Not quite as fiery as ‘Addicted‘ and nowhere as solemn as ‘Back To Black‘, Amy’s voice takes on a gentler tone in this number, serving as a nostalgia painted bridge for Nas’ punchy ‘UK meets US’ themed verses.
Though Nas has always been a welcome guest on Amy’s material, ‘Smoke’ would have been more enjoyable if it had more of her and less of him on it for obvious reasons.
Either way, here’s to hoping future releases from ‘Hidden Treasures’ give fans a deeper look into what the singer had been working on before her untimely passing.

Good track.I love the vibe, it’s very smooth.Nas always delivers.His flow and his tone are perfect for this kind of instrumentals.It’s pleasant to the ears 🙂
And it’s a slow burner.It’s not one of those songs that blow you away on first listen, but people have forgotten that such tracks still exist, so I’m no surprised that there is no serious comment on this page 😉
