Indeed, that fact was all too real for supermodel Rihanna, who was the victim of a racially motivated assault at a Portuguese hotel last night, hours after performing for fans in the country as part of her ‘Loud Tour’.

Good enough to clean the beds but not good enough to sleep in them.
If this story proves anything it is that racial intolerance should never be taken lightly until it is completely eradicated.
For if the like of Rihanna – who we can be sure was armed with a team of minders when this occurred- can fall prey to such hatred, one can only imagine how daunting this experience would be had Rihanna been the ‘average ethnic‘ walking the street without anyone there to defend them.

This just goes to show that racism is still very much alive and EVERYWHERE. It’s in music, its in the corporate world, its in life period! These instances can’t be swept under a rug. There’s been a long fight for equality and it’s sad that in 2011 there’s still much needed progress. We have an African American president of the United States, however many African Americans face discrimination and prejudice in so many ways (from applying for jobs to being accussed of crimes they didn’t commit). African Americans are often forced to work twice as hard to earn the same things their peers do (in life, the corporate world and yes, even in music, etc). I hope Rihanna doesn’t have to witness anything like this ever again, but it’s likely that she probably will.
Racism isn’t going away anytime soon. It’s the truth and people should be able to not only talk about that elephant in the room , but expose it.

That’s a damn shame but I’m not surprised! Racism is alive and kicking all over the world! We just witnessed the “My Tram Experience” in which a “British” female w/a child in toe, sat on the public transit and insulted all who she deemed beneath her based on their ethnicity & place of orgin. Poor little Knight Jones (NAS’ son) had to witness the racially charged verbal abuse his mother Kelis suffered at an airport in England. And who could forget the treatment the “Richest Woman in the World”, Oprah Windfrey received at a NY department store? LOL and I won’t even go there concerning the continued racism Chris Brown suffers! I could go on and on and list many more from all corners of the globe. It’s just sad!
Yeap, racism is alive and kicking folks. I guess we can take comfort in knowing it happens to all regardless of popularity and/or income! #sickening
