At 20 years old, Azealia Banks wasn’t even born during Grace Jones‘ heyday. Yet the young talent tributes the fashion icon accordingly on the striking cover for her debut EP ’1991′.
Due for digital release on May 29th (and June 12th physically), the 4-track collection features viral smash ‘212′, as well as four other tracks.
It serves as a prelude of sorts to meatier releases from Banks later this year; mixtape ‘Fantastic’ is due in the Summer (with its lead single ‘Jumanji’ having already premiered, while her hotly anticipated album ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’ is being readied for a Fall release.

Even though its only four songz, im just glad that 1991 is getting realeased in HQ! At first i was like why is she only releasing 4 songz (two of them are old) then i realized: 1) this is smart because she is about to release liquorice as a single so that combined with 212 being a hit, and 1991 is great, so I am sure Van Vogue will be hot…this ep is the perfect combination for a good teaser. 2). She is about to release a mixtape, then an album, and “Bad Girls Remix” is about to be released (crosses finger for haute video with M.I.A., Rye Rye, Azealia and MIssy!), and last but not least…She is a Beyonce stan/fan so the 4 songz was a dedication to the King.
