MIA Signs To Roc Nation

Published: Thursday 24th May 2012 by David

Congratulations are most certainly in order for MIA.

For, fresh off the release of her online smash ‘Bad Girls’, she has inked a deal with Jay Z‘s Roc Nation.

Details below…

Announcing the news on Twitter, ROC revealed:

Roc Nation:

The nation just keeps on growing…@miauniverse

To which Rihanna added:

Welcome home MIA.

Set to release her forthcoming LP under the label, MIA’s signing marks the latest venture the folks over at ROC have embarked on within the last four years.

In 2008, the group picked up  Brit song bird Rita Ora and allegedly signed Colombian icon Shakira in the earlier part of this year, adding to their already extensive roster which includes Rihanna, Melanie Fiona and ‘Who Dat’ maestro J.Cole.

To date, MIA has scored three US Dance Top 20s by way of ‘Paperplanes‘, ‘Jimmy’ and ‘Boyz’, launching her own label ‘N.E.E.T Recordings‘ under Universal Music in 2008.

Later this year, she will release the official ‘Bad Girls’ remix with confirmed features from Azealia Banks, Rye Rye and Rap icon Missy Elliott.

WTF is Jay thinking? I for one am not checking for MIA. First Rick Ross signs that arrogant queen Omarion now Jay signs the d*** who had the nerve to flip the bird during the Queen of Pop’s Superbowl performance. These rappers are going through a midlife crisis. What’s next? Birdman signs that chick from them Education Connection commercials? I bet Bey does not approve.

uh… i don’t usually resort to name calling, but i will call a spade a spade if i have to. to that end, you’re a moron. madge’s performance at the superbowl was a hot pile of garbage (much like her latest album) and had mia NOT flipped the bird nobody would have even been discussing it the next day. it was a NON event. besides, everyone knows that madonna is THE stunt queen. i wouldn’t be surprised if off the record she asked mia to do it.

mia is a global superstar with 2 artistically brilliant albums under her belt (the last one blew hard).

and the d*** comment… really? shes only been romantically linked with men and i’m fairly certain based on her personality that if she were a big ole les she would just come out and be done with it, cause mia doesn’t give a f***.

so i suggest you take a handful of seats.

Girl bye Mage killed that Super Bowl performance at age 53. Those 2 albums flopped, check the charts. She only has like 500K Twitter followers, some global superstar she is. As a business venture for Jay, she is a flop!!!! Deal!!!!!!!!

after the ferocity of bad girls i cannot wait to hear what the rest of this album is gonna sound like. i’m sensing a serious return to form.

Lets hope MIA DOES NOT START DOING SATANIC SONGS.

  7. ASAP (As Sincere As Possible) May 24, 2012

I hope they handle her well. ‘Bad Girls’ was hot (props to Danja for the beat) and it had all the makings to become a minor hit, but there was no promo, so I hope she’s treated better by ROC. Maybe bring back the hotness that was ‘Bucky Done Gun’??

P.S : ROC Nation should also promote Melanie Fiona. She has many potential urban hits on the album, but 2 months after its release, there’s still no official 3rd single!!

I LOVE HER. Good, she’ll get the promo she deserves. And the idiot up there bitching about how many “twitter” followers she has? That just shows how much of a r***** you are–using twitter followers to measure success when we all know they don’t translate to s***. Ask Rihanna and Nicki Minaj.

Good for her and her bank account.

At long last. After much ado, Yo Gotti and Nicki Minaj have unleashed the video for their summer sizzler ‘Rake It Up.’ Despite dominating the clubs and Urban radio, a visual was nowhere to be found – even after initial set snaps surfaced. Fret not, because the racy the clip is now… Read More
