I keep forgetting that most of the people who vote on here are kids. If you were alive during the time when TLC was popular, you would know that they were entertaining, but were no match singing wise for a lot of other groups. was certified 4X platinum in the US alone. if thats not a crossover hit i don’t know what it. crazy sexy cool was certified diamond by the riaa and fanmail sold upwards of 6 million copies in the US.
Thats 3 HUGE albums.
That said… how they beat en vogue or swv for best harmonies is beyond me. i def think that they take best discography, best live performances, and even without left eye i might still give them please get back together. if it was most DISTINCT fashion i would give them the win there too. but best? i don’t know. its absurd that the supremes weren’t voted most influential. shows the demographic of this site.

IF anyone knows music they will KNOW that TLC had a VERY profound affect on music and were the most influential girl group of the 90s! Destiny’s Child came in towards the end when girl groups were beginning to fade out and at the peak of their success had no competition because their success came in the early 2000s which is when girl groups were no longer popular or disbanded. Destiny’s Child were NOT as influential as TLC that is a FACT. Only reason they were considered is because of Beyonce, take her away and I am SURE almost noone would consider them the best girl group. TLC were a REAL group, each member stood out and had their time and it wasn’t about just ONE PERSON. Rock on TLC!

VERY WELL DESERVED!!! TLC were the most original girl group of all time, they embodied everything that become the blueprint for all Girl groups that came after them, from Soul/ Pop/ Rock/ R&B/FUNK and HIP HOP there is not a musical commercial style that they did not venture, in terms of image again in there own words they had it all Crazy, Sexy and Cool, from Spice Girls too Destiny’s Child before there was a Bills Bills Bills, there was a No Scrubs, Before there was the fiestyness of Wannabe from The Spice Girls there was an Ain’t To Proud To Beg, they re-shaped and re-defined what a modern girl Girl group was supposed to be, there video and album concepts were timeless and short of genius and there songs empowered and educated men and women everywhere, They were the Original Independent Women and The Orignal Girl Power Trio and they didn’t have to state it in any songs, it was just who they were! Vocally the soul of Chilli, The Funk of T Boz and the Hip Hop Rap of Lisa gave you everything you needed and as far as performance they were un-comparable, no one can top the medley they did on the MTV Awards,. RIP LIsa, TLC is FOREVER!

Votes were rigged. TLC influence wasn’t as massive as their fans think. Sure there were other girl groups out. They(TLC)just had a more established force at the time promoting them. They were no different than any girl group from the 90s’(I was there remember them well). To see them win live performance is even more laughable…..
There were more stylish groups,MUCH BETTER VOCAL GROUPS that were overlooked. Plus don’t give me that DC was the only group out.Look at Pussycat dolls and danity Kane….if that were the case they both would’ve mattered…..they don’t.

I’m a TLC STAN, and I agree with the results of this poll BSIDE the one for Best harmony. I LOVE TLC but there harmonies are average…it should have certainly went to EnVogue. But TLC certainly owned in every other category, especially Discography, best live performance and most influential. Their fashion was Unique…tomboyishly girly, which was hot at da time, look @ Aaliyah and other females out at the time. The difference between TLC & DC is that TLC was strong as a group, but individually they brought nothing to the table. How successful was Chilly & T-Boz after the group decided to settle down? DC on the other hand were not only strong as a group but as individual artists for the most part. All of them have reached success beyond the group (some more than others). Michelle has done her plays, Kelly was the first of the group to receive a Grammy as a solo act & has had a decent solo career. Beyonce now being one of the biggest names in music has done it all from Grammys to movies to having 4 consecutive number 1 albums as a solo artist. That’s the one thing I admire about DC, individually they slay as much as they do as a group. That is my opinion & you don’t have to agree.

Um wit you on this one because people keep saying they didnt have good vocal i ask all of yall to go listen to TLC’s album from OOOOOOhhh on TLC tip 2 CRAZYSEXYCOOL to Fanmail and hear there vocals harmonies they are there the difference with them and DC and envouge is TLC has less voices to work with and TLC were very hip about it so they didnt flesh out there harmonies like they were a church group like DC plus when it was dc4 harmonies were important esp by the background Letoya Latavia and kELLY AND Beyonce but DC lacked in showcasing each girl I think that is what ultimately makes them a let down becasue people didnt get to hear the originals vocal making it easy to replace them and when michelle got in the group they gave her the least vocals or made Beys vocal the loudest as which to me felt like it was to make her appear the strongest which ultimately kinda ruined the point of what a group is supposed to be. But in fairness the DC’s girl voices do blend well so you have to know all of them indiviually for you to hear their voices on tracks Beys voice is just the loudest. I think thats why peole think Kelly’s biting beys sound on some of her songs when they almost have the same sound but TLC had great chemistry and even when they had their probs they still stuck it out together which was real sisterhood I Just wish the DC could of been that way becasue from day 1 all four of them would talk about sisterhood and i dnt blame them i think it was matthew and co but they could of atleast mentioned Letoya and Latavia in a good light rather than trying to make it seem as if they didnt ever exisist and if people recognized them then they didn’t do much when they helpd build that group off the ground and made two breakout albums with the girls to become the force that is was DC. Out of the two they are both great groups just different people can argue or go look up their history videos interviews all of it but Dc came after all the groups on this so they had the blessing of being after what was great and they were able to be better adopting what all of the girl groups before them had done and some. Im sorry but TLC has to be the most overrated girl group of all time.and what these dumbass TLC fans dont get is good music doesnt have to deal with aids and domestic problems. A song can have the most simplest lyrics AND concept and be the BOMB DIGGITY. And im a DC Stan ALL DAY, but i think that there were so many other groups that shit all over TLC. BUT thats just my opinion…

Umm, no one shits on TLC get that fucking straight first of all. And actually DC is the most overrated group. Yes they were good, but Beyonce is the only reason they were as popular. If it wasn’t for Bey, DC wouldn’t have gotten nearly as far. TLC are legends. They are the only girl group in history to have a diamond selling album in the US. CrazySexyCool sold over 23 million copies worldwide, and FanMail sold 15 million. The Writing’s On The Wall was DC’s best album overall and only sold 12 million worldwide. But DC is better right? In the words of Michael Kyle, uhhh nuh.
