While the VMAs may have gone some way to sully Rihanna’s public image, it’s safe to say they may have her given her somewhat of an early Christmas present.
For, perhaps in response to her smoking set at the event, her latest LP ‘Talk That Talk’ has finally been certified Platinum, almost one year since release.

Ultimate Rihanna reports:
“Talk That Talk”, her 6th studio album, has been certified platinum in the United States, selling over 1 million copies since its release in November, 2011.
This is her 5th consecutive album to go platinum there! The album has sold over 3.2 million copies worldwide.”
Well done Rihanna!
Marking the best piece of news sent her way in a while, congratulations are definitely in order for both she and the folk over at Def Jam and Roc Nation.
Reason being?
Considering the project has only spawned 1 US #1 single, to surpass sales of and ship 1 million copies is a feat we’d say stands as one of her best.
We only hope that with album #7 on the way, Rihanna takes the time to work on the voice many are still ‘unsure’ of seven years into her glowing career.
Like, while she’ll never be Beyonce or Rita Ora, wouldn’t it be great if Rihanna the talent lived up to the hype generated by Rihanna the chart topper?

I know, it’s pathetic. Beyoncé just promoted 4 for 3 months, without jumping on dance badwagon, pregnant, selling R&B songs, and it sold 1.2kk in US alone. She wasn’t even trying that hard. She’s in the industry for over 15 years! On other hands, Rihtard still is promoting her album after a year of release, had a bunch of generic dance songs, her biggest hit to date, Twitter followers, discounts etc, and she struggles to sell 1 million. Okay. Beyoncé’s singles didn’t hit #1, but 4 still managed to sell as much as some basic bitches’s albums full of generic dance songs. BUT, which was the last R&B song to top the charts? I really don’t remember. I think it was Empire State of Mind. It wasn’t like Beyoncé released dance songs and they failed, they were all R&B. As far as I know, R&B isn’t relevant on radios since 2010. So it isn’t a big deal that a R&B song didn’t score top 10 hit these days. Sony made a huge investment in 4closure, they planned out a barrage of music videos, concerts…etc and the album was supposed to span 2 years, it barely lasted 6 months. 4closure was a disaster, DEAL.

in total, for 2011 to 2012 Rihanna has sold 11 million records for that year – and counting.She is still selling from TTT.
Beyonce has sold from 2011 to 2012 – about 4, may 4. 5 – maybe 5 million records from the four album.
11 million VS 4 million – yup! Rihanna has slayed her, they went to head and Rihanna one, on all fronts.
Beyonce is getting old and now peaked. Her daddy ( the brains behind her career ) is no longer in the picture – i feel that has cost her big time. she has competition from a younger, prettier black girl and people are tiring of her of 15 – last 10 being overexposed. 2001 She was everywhere.
It was gonna happen sooner or later. Only madonna, the beatles, MJ are acts that will on top till they stop making music, Beyonce does not have that one of a kind talent that they have, hence why they have outsold her and some on the list are dead.
I do not think beyonce will even get to 100 milion solo records sold.
This is why she has invested her time and money in Rita Ora, she is hoping Rita can take the shine of Rih, to make it easier for her to at least get her black girl crown back.

Why are Slutonce’s fans super concerned about Rihanna’s sales? Of cource Thiefonce should have bigger sales because before solo, she was part of a group that has sold well. Rihanna had to do it as a solo act from the start.
Currently, here are the worldwide sales of both artists:
Whoreonce: IASF: 7M, 4closure: 2.1M
Rihanna: Loud: 8M, TTT: 3M
In effect, in terms of current global stature, they are the same, although Copyonce has been on constant decline since her debut as a solo artist (from 11M to 7M to 2M), while Rihanna has yet to stabilize her sales (it’s up or down dependent on the album 1m to 3M to 7M to 3M to 8M to 3M – a testament that she is still evolving). People are getting tired of one of them, one who had to resort to fake baby gimmicks.

Rihanna’s sales figures are a joke. She averages platinum per album…despite it costing MILLIONS more to record and promote them. I’d be willing to bet that she doesn’t earn Def Jam a real profit from her shit, which is probably why they put out a new album on her every 9 months and she stays touring. If Rihanna dared to take a year off, she’s be in debt to everybody.
Her fans swear she’s some kind of “it”-girl, but I’ve never known any hot pop star who takes this damn long to sell a million US and not much more after. Even Loud — the album her fans like to boast about — has yet to see multiplatinum status.

You people really can’t compare TTT to 4. Like seriously, you really can’t. TTT had how many hits and it’s just now reaching platinum.? She should have at least reached that status in a months time. Maybe even less. I would rather ride with someone who had no hits yet, she still did good in the first week sales than someone who had hits like a mofo yet, she still failed in the first week. We just have to give credit where its due!! Albums are not selling like they used to these days..there’s only a handful of artists that reached platinum status and a few multi platinum (i.e. Adele, Taylor Swift and etc). Rihanna consistently putting out platinum albums and hit singles and still at the prime age of 24!! She accomplished so and still got a long way to go! Much love and respect to her!

The fact that you flops STAY bringing Beyonce into a Rihanna post as much as Sam stans and posts about her on TGJ shows how pitiful you all are and insecure as stans. Never do you see on a Beyonce post a Beyonce stan bringing up Rihanna for comparison. Its always the Fake-vy bringing up and bashing Beyonce to validate their illegitimate reciepts.
But if i may add, this is Rihanna’s 6th album and your comparing it to Beyonce’s 4th. Why? Beyonce’s first 3 albums have each outsold every album Rihanna has ever released. 4, which has arguably stopped selling, has still even outsold TTT, with no hit single, whereas TTT has had a #1, two top 10s, and two #20s. And please lets not use the bullshyt excuse that Beyonce’s name only carried her album. If thats the case, then Michael Jackson’s “Michael” album wouldve sold millions, just by the fact that his name is printed on the damn packaging. 4 was an R&B, whether you want to except it or not. That along with no hits singles caused its “lackluster” performance, according to BEYONCE standards and BEYONCE standards ONLY. If it were any other irrelevant brawd selling the name numbers 4 did, you bitches wouldnt be saying a damn thing. But the fact that Beyonce has the Fake-vy stans so pressed and threatened, her numbers are always brought up. Its like you all secretly stan for Beyonce but just wont come out the closet. 10 month to go just platinum is a flop. No record label on earth spends millions to record and promote one of its artists and is satisfied with their album taking damn near a year to see this basic certification. Realistically, with the hit songs and promotion she’s had, TTT should be no less than 4x platinum US and 8-9 million WW. 1 million US and 2.5-3 million WW after nearly a whole calendar year is a fail. And looky, she’s recording yet ANOTHER album to try and cover this debacle.
Stop acting like the girl is “winning” when she barely breaks even. Bringing up other artists isn’t deflecting from the fact that number of whole albums RIhanna sells is mediocre. She only exists to be the face for a song that someone else wrote. A song that anyone can sing. She’s the definition of a “singles artist”, and no one makes money from singles artists except for the songwriters. If she didn’t tour, she’d be broke.

Some albums have sold in a month what it’s taken her all year to do. I refuse to be snowed by the “digital era” excuse. If your album isn’t at least double platinum, then it wasn’t a real success. And 3 million worldwide is far from impressive either. She should be over, at or at least nearing the 10 million mark, considering all the territories this album was promoted to.
This whole era has been poor. When you clear out the smokescreen, Rihanna’s sales figures never match the hype.
