It’s been a costly journey (literally), yet one which finally seems to be paying off. For, not only is Rihanna starting to achieve a fraction of the commercial “status” she’s been faking for years, she’s become an industry revolutionary of sorts. Don’t laugh, we’re being serious.

@prettigurlrockD, the “perception” is that “Unapologetic” is more cohesive than “TTT.” “TTT,” for a a lot of people, felt like an artist throwing different ideas against the wall to see which one’s would stick. I disagreed but I got the point.
“TTT” was great prelude to “Unapologetic” for me. Since I loved that album, I was able to see where Rihanna was going with “Unapologetic.” It’s very much in the same vein. “Unapologetic” is much more “TTT” than “Rated R,” and I’m learning that as I listen to it more. But the “feeling,” the “atmosphere,” is very RR.

Lmao, she sold an estimated 112k on itunes in the first day, and 6k on itunes. They’re professionals lol. The have predicted to low though, I think they said 140k- 160k for GGGB (165k?), and 180-200k for Rated R (ITS RATED RS BIRTHDAY), Loud and #TTT (183k, 207k and 198k. The least she will do probably is 240k, but if she has a good res of the week she’ll sell 260k.

True. Usher and CB’s last albums still hasn’t reached 400K and they were #1. All a #1 album means is that your album was the best seller of THAT week. There are countless #1 albums that flopped and didn’t even get to a million. CB”s last two albums, all of Rick Ross albums, Usher’s las one. And they are single artist that albums don’t sell crap, LMFAO, Flo Riders, J.lo and so on. If Rih a single’s artist, then she’s the queen of it then, but she sells just fine in a time when others don’t. The haters bring up artist and albums that came out over 10 years ago. She’s gonna be broke after buying 240,000 copies of her album! It just confuses me how someone like Christina Aguilera who has an incredible voice only sold 75,000 copies of Lotus in er opening week, and Rihanna is selling 240! Who the hell is buying this shit? Who CARES if she isn’t the BEST singer?! Spice Girls wasn’t, TLC weren’t either but they had all the right ingredients to be given credit where credit is due, I don’t personally think Rihanna is that bad of a singer, I love her accent and it works.
Yes, there are better singers out there like Beyonce but there are also better than Bey that have never had Beyonce’s success.

Where did people get that good commercial sales means a good album.Some of the best albums in years in music have not sold alot of units.People don’t understand that quality is what matters not quantity i mean it is nice to have commercial success like Rihanna but if you really think her music does not have any impact on the music industry and her music does not set the bar for anyone in music and she will not inspire the next generations of greats as Whitney,Mariah,Micheal,Janet,Aretha did for current artist. Congratulations to her for her first #1 but GGGB,Rated R or Loud deserve it more.I hated Unapologetic,it is is one of her worst albums.And the Navy needs to stop calling the Bey-Hive delusional cause the Navy just as much as the Hive is delusional(blind leading the blind) and Beyonce lowest debut slaes(4) is still more than Rihanna’s highest debut and on top of that 4 went platinum months before THT did so you seriuosly need to drop that rusty argument.

I’m not a Rihanna hater at all. I actually liker her and support her. But if she couldn’t get a number one album after Chris beat the accent out of her ass and gave her another forehead, what makes you think she will get one now? Especially when Diamonds was okay and NOT great . I think that album a year shit be messing her up cause we don’t get a chance to miss her. Her cycle is :album, tour, tattoo, drink, smoke. At least Beyonce knows when to take off the lacefront and have several for a little while.

I don’t get it. Did you see her sing on SNL? She has a beautiful voice. Is it the strongest or loudest out there? No, but not every singer needs to belt to sound solid.
Did anyone watch Christina Aguilera on the AMAs? She sounded horrible the entire time. No excuse to hold people to different standards just because at one time they were talented. Lauryn Hill is one of the greatest ever and she can’t hold a note to save her life now.
Also, if you don’t think Rihanna can dance, you need to watch her dance the What’s My Name choreography. She is on point and sexy as hell, not all dancing is popping, locking, kicking, quick step. She has rhythm, sex appeal, personality, and a great voice.
Give credit where credit is due.
