If the following weeks see her play her promo cards right, Kelly Rowland may be on course to scoring her first R&B smash hit of the year.
That’s right, thanks to her brief appearance on Beyonce‘s ‘Super Bowl Half Time‘ extravaganza, the ‘Haven’t Told You’ singer has nabbed two favorable chart positions with her latest singles, ‘Ice’ and ‘Kisses Down Low‘.
Produced by ‘Love Me’ mastermind Mike Will Made It, Kelly’s ‘Kisses’ catwalks up the iTunes R&B chart- securing a new home at #27, just one spot beneath Keyshia Cole’s ‘Trust & Believe‘.
Fuelled by renewed interest in the star’s work following last night’s show, the ‘Motivation’ darling also kicks dust in the face of a number of her rivals, now that ‘Ice‘ holds tight at #29. Impressive, considering it became available for digital download in the August of last year and has now outsold cuts released by a number of her contemporaries months later.
After the success of ‘Motivation’ in 2011, we hope Camp Kelly have plans in place to ensure both ‘Ice’ and ‘Kisses’ reach to the top of R&B/Hip Hop Songs Chart and generate enough momentum for its supporting album, ‘Year Of The Woman‘.

That’s great! people need to get one fact though. people love Kelly, they genuinely want to see her win. That’s why she has been able to remain relevant. but Kelly has to realize that in order to be a true Key figure in the business she has to to be more organized. I partly agree with that. But if people read, she’s had to budget her own career lately, nobody knows what goes behind the scenes. Beyonce has had the luctury of having parents to go EXTRA hard for her, so her talent was more refined, & she has WAYYY more networth than the likes of Ms. Rowland. “Ice” was a buzz single, she performed it like once, I’m sure she did that on purpose. Her 1st official single (this song posted here) has just been released. I think she’s learned from “Here I Am” era, & over the last 2 years since separating from Matthew, Kelly has done wonders for her career. Mind u when she got her 1st #1 worldwide hit “When Love Takes Over”, she has independent, & that was all her on that song.

You cannot underestimate the POWER THAT BE’s influence and control over the industry via the new MEDIA-MUSIC INDUSTRY MONOPOLY! Kelly, like Brandy, Monica, Keyshia Cole-Gibson and few other songbirds are not positioned so that they will achieve a certain level of success. Beyonce, Rihanna, Adele, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and a few others have been “positioned” within the media for the success they current have!
In other words, there is much more involved in an artists success than just hit records and a good team around them. The POWERS THAT BE will also have to allow you to perform & promote your material at major events. Not all acts are able to do that! Or haven’t you realized that by now?
