Today brings with it the release of India Arie‘s highly anticipated 5th studio album ‘Songversation’.
Much to the delight of fans (christened #Soulbirds), the singer’s lengthy promo outings kicked off this morning with a live rendition of the album’s lead single ‘Cocoa Butter’ on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’.
Wowing onlookers like only she can, see Arie’s dazzling delivery of one of her smoothest offerings yet…
The showing comes just days before Arie is set to to appear on Oprah’s ‘Super Soul Sunday’ (preview seen here) and lend her critically acclaimed skills to the BET stage.

I bought her album today and I haven’t stopped listening to it! India is an artist anyone can appreciate because her songs are simple yet so meaningful and they are also timeless. Her voice is better than ever as well! So glad this woman is back on the scene. Go out and support real music!
Sadly this song is basic and boring and this is coming from an India.Arie fan. I had to fast forward through it bc her performance was a bore! Come on India we need something better!

I don’t like this Cocoa Butter song. I don’t know. I haven’t really liked India since her Voyage To India album 10+ years ago….
India hasn’t had a solid collection since 2006’s Testimony Vol.1:Love&Relationships
This album and her last one in 2010(I think) are just all of the same things she said or better yet the statement she was trying to make with her music 3 Albums ago, I mean she came out with a song Called “Cocoa Butter”lol(Really!). She never evolved and yes the new album has some gems, every India album has them. I’m thinking of buying just select tracks from the album, instead of buying the whole thing. Still at least she writes her own songs(Cocoa butter being probably being the worst) and she can still sing. Not A terrible album…it’s just kind of unbalanced
