1. Japan
2. USA
3. Germany
4. UK.

Overall, music started to go downhill with the new millenium cos of the illegal downloading, labels stopped having so much money and they started to promote talentless acts the most, cos they were cheaper and music industry started to be singles-oriented.
Sad but true. Great music and amazing musicians still exist and I still get my dosis, but it doesn´t come from mainstream charts most of the times. This month I just got life from John Legend and Janelle Monáe´s new albums. Great music still exists. People are just becoming slower and more superficial to appreciate it.

Honestly I think the UK charts are slightly better though because there have been some actual talented, acclaimed, and very good artists getting hits there. Another good example is Disclosure. One of their songs went #2 in the UK I think? it definately went top 5 though. The US could never.
But good music does still exist, you just have to look pretty hard for it, even though services like satellite/internet radio make it a little easier.
The reason why indie artist get so much attention in my country (UK) is because EDM has been here since 2006 and people are sick of it. They just want something different & something with meaning. But yeah Rosie I agree with you the US has a dog chase tail taste in music & it’s sad because 20 years ago that wasn’t the case.
