Watch: Christina Aguilera Performs Michael Jackson & Janet Jackson Medley On ‘The Voice’

Published: Wednesday 20th Nov 2013 by Sam

As two of music’s most noted icons, Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson have been the subject of many a tribute.

The latest comes courtesy of one of this generation’s greatest talents – Christina Aguilera.

Diva Xtina took to the stage on last night’s episode of ‘The Voice’ in support of the Team she coaches. Together, the trio performed a high-octane medley of Jackson classics including Janet’s ‘Black Cat’, MJ’s ‘Bad’, and the sibling’s 1995 chart-topping collaboration ‘Scream’.

Watch Aguilera and co in action below…

We’re rarely moved by pro’s pairing up with upcomers in this way, as it only re-affirms how amateur certain acts are (in this case, the male contestant Matthew).

Still, a solid showing from Christina – one that has us salivating at the prospect of her toying with a Rock-meets-R&B sound ala the songs performed here.

Tidbit: That entrance walk was….everything. Werk!

Christina girl, you will forever have my respect for this. Janet has been blacklisted for so long and now you’ve helped to introduce the new kids coming up to her music.

  12. mike November 20, 2013

Did this n**** just call Matthew an amateur act?

The dude is a vocalist and she ropes him in on stage trying to get him to growl and sing rock like if its his style.

Give Matthew a ballad and he’ll blow Christina’s Lion King Soundtrack vocals out of the water!

  13. RoyalKev November 20, 2013

Wow! Miss Aguilera is waking me The F*** up! I see Chrissy is getting that fire back in 2013! Loev It! JJ & MJ are simply 2 of the best to have ever done it! It’s always a pleasure to see them get a much deserved tribute!

  14. RoyalKev November 20, 2013

You’re so right! I love Xtina for this!

  16. eric November 20, 2013

They should’ve had Christina do the whole thing alone. Her voice is not all back yet, but I haven’t seen this kind of raw passion, energy and fire from her since her Back to Basics reign. I loved this performance.

I agree with you. She has the FIYAH in her belly during this performance. Whether this applies to her, I can’t say, but when some singers step out of their comfort zone, be it different producers, performing cover songs by legends/icons or singing alongside other vocal talents and legends, it pushes them further, sometimes subconsciously even too, cos in the back of their mind they have a lot to live up to or prove 🙂

People underestimate Christina a lot but she has one of the most versatile voices of today. She can do a lot. Loved this performance and loved that she sung one of Janet’s less well known hit singles.

    • hansomegumdrop November 15, 2016

Correction black cat and scream are well known hit singles

  20. JFB November 20, 2013

I think Christina is gearing up to show the world why shes such a LEGEND !!! This woman can sing any f****** genre and deliver. People may pick on her. Tease her about her weight. Call her a flop. But 1 thing people cant deny is how talented this woman truly is. I got chills from this performance and i have NO DOUBT her next album/era will be absolutely AMAZING !

  21. Realest November 20, 2013

It was just ok for me, not really songs I would pick for a vocal competition due to the high octane energy one must put forth to do ANY KIND OF JUSTICE to an uptempo Janet or Michael song but kudos for the Jackson tribute. I am however glad Christina is embracing that she’s no longer a soprano and is staying in her naturally lower alto range. It’s much more pleasurable in the ears to hear her not screaming, she has a beautiful ALTO voice

i’m proud of you baby girl!

    • all4u1 November 20, 2013

I’m proud of my baby too!

  23. all4u1 November 20, 2013

Actually, Christina is still a soprano, she just developed a new style of singing. Either way you look at it, this performance, with her team, is very solid!

  24. rich86 November 20, 2013

She`s got that fire and sass back! No other female right now out in the industry for the exception of beyonce could pull off this performance, again christina has proven she`s the real deal and truly make u question why people like kesha, katy perry, rihanna and the rest are popular and have so much success!Imagine the AMAS are going to give rihanna an icon award, well blow me the f##k down!

  25. B Lamont November 20, 2013

I’m never a fan of Janet and Michael tributes. Most acts can’t give what Janet or MJ can/could…they’re either boring or over sung. But Christina did a really great job. Didn’t care too much for the other guys but that’ cool. And the fact that it was more of tribute to Janet of course made my day.

  26. Oh No You Didn’t! November 21, 2013

Oh WERK IT HUNNY! love it! and yes, like everyone said, the entrance was just amazing! I hope Xtina’s next era is something like this, with a rock flavah, so she can were it like this!!!!!

  27. BOOBIE November 21, 2013

    You better stan, sis.

  28. LadyNightmare November 22, 2013
