May 5th may bring with it new music from Mariah Carey, but it would seem love for her older material continues to garner more support from the general public this year.

Why the icon’s commercial pull is far more potent than her naysayers would have the world believe?

Good news below…

Produced Ernesto ‘DJ Clue?’ Shaw and co-written by Carey herself, 1999’s ‘Heartbreaker‘ is the fourteenth of the entertainer’s singles to top the ‘Hot 100′, certified Gold for shipments of 500,000 units shortly after its release.

Last week, 15 years after its September 21st 1999 launch date, the cut sailed to a Silver certification in the UK for sales of 200,000 units, years after its ‘Rainbow’ mothership soared to sales of 3 million units in the US alone!

In other chart news, Pink‘s ‘The Truth About Love’ sits at US sales of 1,954,000 units as Pharrell Williams’ ‘G I R L’ arrives at the 482,000 units sold worldwide milestone!

On higher ground, 48,000 units moved in the last week brings Beyonce‘s ‘Beyonce’ to a global total of 3,051,000 copies sold, moved between the December of 2013 and the March of this year.

Congratulations to Mariah this is one of my guilty pleasures by her, and congrats to Beyonce as well.

  2. FAF March 24, 2014

Well this was before ppl had itunes to buy singles so the song was a success, nonetheless

That’s back when the US was of utmost importance.. I miss those days before

    “WORLDWIDE” was tossed around… u weren’t s*** if u weren’t selling in a DOMESTIC market!

    • lovebird March 24, 2014

Do you miss the VHS, tube TVs and Morse code too you old dinosaur?

    • RancorNV March 24, 2014

You’re still not s*** if you’re not selling in the domestic market.

  3. Adrian March 24, 2014

Ugh we are just weeks away from the album! Mariah is about to seal that album up and come back to the U.S. blazing a promo trail! If she did all that just for some single buzz I can’t wait to see what she does for this album.

  4. S****** Blonde March 24, 2014

I remember the media criticized her for trying to look/sound/be like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera when the video was released, the good old days 🙂

    • lovebird March 24, 2014

      Lmao, you’re such a mess.

    • RICHIE_RICH March 24, 2014

      • RICHIE_RICH March 24, 2014

IDK…..I don’t keep up with single sales boo only albums. I’m sure you know doe. Beyonce’ the albums is 3+million-5+million depending on you’re source.

      • lovebird March 24, 2014

        Depending on “your” source.

I was just curious seeing that Beyonce hasn’t had a hit in 6 years.

      • slay_hive March 24, 2014

      • lovebird March 24, 2014

The amazing thing about Butterfly and Rainbow is that even though Mariah was in an uphill battle with her label since Tommy Motolla (her ex husband) was still the President, she STILL slayed and fought for the singles and material she wanted. Although it ultimately broke her down after years of fighting with them, she still managed to enjoy success. They would NOT promote those albums at all and she still managed to get Honey, My All, Heartbreaker, and Thank God I Found You to number one. #QUEENRIAH

    • JOHNVIDAL March 24, 2014

Exactly! Mariah was suffering a lot of true pressure from 1997 (or before) till 2001 when she had that short breakdown, but was still working non stop and having success, withh label obstacles behind. I mean, she´s a f****** fighter. True legend.

  7. lovebird March 24, 2014

Not only is Stadium Status coming for those 18 payola #1s; she will also be awarded Fashion Icon by the fashion industry.

    • Mariah4Life March 24, 2014

      LOL
Rihanna can’t push an album past platinum (and struggles to do that.) Fashion Icon is a joke and has nothing to do with being a musician, and what good is “Stadium Status” if you’re still basically broke? Riri’s money is pathetic compared to those she’s usually compared to. Hmm.

      • RICHIE_RICH March 24, 2014

I see no lies…….They robbing little miss sunshine…Why JB worth 160 million, and she’s worth 90?

  8. lovebird March 24, 2014

And imma need Da Brat to get her s*** together and slay me with a new album; her flows >>>>>>>>>

  12. Woman to woman March 24, 2014

  13. Doobie March 24, 2014

  21. mypenizfresh March 24, 2014

Mariah Carey truly has some of the best sales history. At this point I feel she should just focus on releasing solid music that adds to her catalog.

Congratulations to P!NK and Beyonce, both ladies are doing such a great job at releasing a body of work and fully promoting it. Not to mention they are two of the best entertainers we have out right now.

  22. Mark111 March 24, 2014

Well at least something selling. You’re Done (End of the Line) isn’t doing s***. The high point of her career was when she knew not to EVER dance again. Good for her.

  23. BEYHIVE_MINAJ March 24, 2014

@Molly Omfg me too. If there is a part 2,I want her to release the full version of Ghost. Ghost>Haunted

  24. IStanForYourFav March 24, 2014

First of all, I love your avi. Sad that it took her death to get her recognized as the legend she is. RIP

but I totally agree. I remember being like 8/9 when Heartbreaker came out and all of the legal battles and etc being everywhere. She was prissy during that era.

    • Royalkev March 24, 2014

Umm, she’s been legendary for quite some time before her death. It’s just that she was torn down like many other massively popular entertainers (MJ, Janet, etc). Death allows people to remember someone’s worth.

  25. celine March 24, 2014

beurk she is ugly and fat . i hate her

  26. Theman March 24, 2014

SHE’S THE BEST !! HER PREVIOUS SONGS & ALBUMS STILL SALE !!

    ^ That was for ISTANFORYOURFAV

I never get that reply thingy right!
Congrats to Bey & Mariah! I never cared for HB, but it’s still an accomplishment to see the old stuff continue to bring in sales!
