Undisturbed by new releases unleashed by Justin Bieber or Ariana Grande Ms. Adkins topped the U.K’s Official Singles Chart with the new single.
What makes this Adele #1 so special is that its sales make it the biggest #1 single the market has seen in three years, nabbing 330,000 units in its opening week.
This is the first time a number has come close to matching or topping the 490,000 units James Arthur‘s cover of Shontelle‘s ‘Impossible’ moved in 2012.
The single’s parent album ’25’ will make its way to retailers globally on November 20th and is expected to sell over 2 million units in its opening week.
It’s a good song but this hype is WAY TOO OVER THE TOP!
The song is just good… She’s getting these accolades and feats simply because people feed into what they think is the best thing. I bet half the people who bought or listened to the song only did so because everyone else did and it was what was expected.. Like….. Sam Smith is far superior
What adele has going for her is her voice……Overrated or not, that girl has a beautiful and distinct voice. HELLO HAS THE MOST BASIC LYRICS, BUT BECAUSE SHE SINGS IT WITH SO MUCH SOUL AND PERSONALITY, IT SOUNDS BETTER THAN IT ACTUALLY IS. But, the one thing i don’t like is that, she is not a versatile singer. She pretty much sings about the same thins…..SADNESS. 19 and 21 are pretty much the same album to me.

Incredible success and I´m counting on her to keep saving teh little prestige mainstream music has left (she is really talented, unlike most now). BUT, this song is very bland. Despite all the success I truly think it will be totally forgotten in a few years since she has many other better singles in her short career. Hope the next singles and the whole album are better. For nowadays standards it is a decent song, for the standards the collosal artists like her had to face in the 80s and 90s it is absolutely weak.

The Adele hype (along with the sells for ’25’) will surely go through the roof this year. It seems like she can get away with doing very little and still be guaranteed to have some sort of media frenzy going on everywhere. I never had much of an interest in her, but I won’t say that she doesn’t have any talent. It’s there, but the praises she receives is just magnified to the extreme. I liked ‘Chasing Pavements’ and ‘Someone Like You’, but I personally felt ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and a few of her other hits were so average and overblown by the media. That said, ‘Hello’ is one of the best songs I’ve heard from Adele (and even in music for a while, period). I just feel like it’s being made out to be this ‘Thriller’ kind of event and it’s not. I do hear growth from Adele though and I’d like to see what her music sounds like these days.
Hometown Glory from 19 is still her best work as far as I’m concerned.
