Mario is back.

The 30-year-old R&B star has unleashed the video for new single ‘I Need More’ – the lead release from his long-awaited fifth studio album.

It’s been a roller-coaster ride for the singer, who has been actively trying to release a body of work for almost five years.

Now independent and signed to his own New Citizen imprint, riding solo seems to suit him well.

Because, as you’ll see after the jump, the visual scintillatingly cinematic effort.

Watch the Ruby directed clip, which Mario conceptualised himself, after the jump…

In an era of effort-starved videos, it’s refreshing to see an act – especially an Urban male – put forth such a cool creative.

The song is by no means earth-shattering and purposely blends into the mix of what’s currently hot. But that’s hardly a drawback, particularly for an indie act looking to make waves sans the muscle of the major label machine.

Welcome back, Mario.

I’m impressed the song is nothing different from what’s out but it serves it’s purpose and got me interested… I’m looking forward to more

I see some haunted video by bee

All I hear in the background is Todrick’s “Wrong B****” bass line. Did he jack it?

My man. But I want him to stick to his roots. Great to see him back as well!

This song is UNBEARABLE. I love Mario’s voice, but he sounds like he’s crying in this. I don’t know if i’m supposed to dance or pass him a tissue.

No, just no. I don’t care how good the video is, if the song is this bad, just no! What happened to r&b Mario! Now he’s trying to be something he’s not? This is absolute trash and this is coming from a Mario fan. I’ve been waiting for years for him to come back and this is what he comes back with? SMH. Another r&b singer who sold out to the crap game. He’s as bad as Usher, Tank, and R. Kelly. This ain’t even music. It’s not even cool/fun to listen to, who’s gonna ride to this, dance to this, bump and grind to this, or do anything to this song? Nobody, because it is lifeless, like most music today. I hope the next single is much better, with a voice like Mario’s, he should be really singing. Anybody could sing this song right here. What a waste of his talent!

WOW! Mario is dancing again? After a decade since “Let Me Love You”? Really appreciate him and Omarion taking the break from dancing though to make people listen to their voices more.
The video is great and this is coming out of his own pockets? Ok…. take my coinz!

I see a lot of people trying their very best to shade all the new R&B songs that have came out today such as Sevyn, Tinashe and now Mario’s. How can you make a conclusion to a new song, upon first listening? doesn’t make sense. Music is suppose to grow on you for at least a month.
Happy for these black artists as the music is good! 😀

Um, incase yall didn’t know, this piece of trash came out in May. It’s trash. I’ve heard this many times and it has no musicality or replay value. Just a piece of trash from a very talented artist. It’s different for Tintin and Sevyn, they were never that good. But Mario used to be the man. Now he’s just trying to keep up with what the (c)rappers are doing and it is not working. There’s nothing good about this song. I hope the whole album isn’t like this.

Yall please stop complaining about rnb when yall don’t support real rnb unless a huge name rapper is attached or it a popular female singer. Stop let Mario do the music yall pay attention to lol smh

      Stop generalizing.

      • Igotstatellithowiseeit September 16, 2016

Uhmmmm…. just take a look at the current state of r&b music…. a pretty damn good generalization. R&B singers are struggling in this music climate. Up until the late 90s you had so many r&b artists on varying levels. What happened? And don’t tell me they all make bad music.

This reminds me of sevyn’s prolly.

I’ve always been a fan, but I think Mario is better than this trap music or whatever it is. I do however like seeing him dance again, and his styling in this video works well.

I feel like he kinda missed the mark. Almost had it but just wasn’t excuted properly good try tho. What are his roots? This is R&B now. Mario and Chris Brown made the same type of music back n the back If Chris recorded this you wouldn’t think he wasn’t sticking to his roots.

  12. kwinzy September 18, 2016

I swear trap is ruining R&B. Who is this imposter? Bring “Let Me Love You” Mario back!!

  13. Trina Rozera September 19, 2016

He should’ve promoted “Fireball” that song was current but still true to his vocals.
