Watch: Katy Perry Performs On ‘SNL’

Published: Saturday 20th May 2017 by Sam

Katy Perry continues to leave no stone unturned in the push for new album ‘Witness’ (due June 9th).

This evening saw her seize the Saturday Night Live finale as her latest platform to plug the project.

As is customary for the show’s musical guest, the starlet took to the stage twice. She first tackled newest number ‘Swish Swish’ sans Nicki Minaj – but with special friends. Joined by Migos, she then showcased ‘Bon Appetit.’

Check out both performances below…

Blah.

This swish song is actually a good track but this performance was a mess! It’s the hair ! This performance lacked fierceness and everything Else

She comes off as a mom tryingbtonbe cool with her kids. When migos came up she was doing that mom hip hop dance. The idea was there but she doesn’t know how to execute any live performances

I like her but her staging and performances are so meh for this era – why doesn’t she just stand and sing with a band – the whole trying to be cute / funny / not s*** just isn’t working somehow.

her second act she did a song about being a buffet for her man. She was laying on a table with mostly black people around the table. She was assuming some erm cunnilingus friendly positions that were just disgusting. Out of her mind!

What is she going through? She is reeking of Miley vibes. I’m also feeling second hand embarrassment watching her, esp. at that 2:30 mark.

Katy smh… everything is a mess, no wonder everything is going to s***.

And obviously her team can’t pull the plug on this messy pre-album promos and appearances because all of this was pre-arranged but woah it needs to stop. You can see she is so desperate for something to work at this point.

its sad that these celebs don’t realize that sometimes people are given fame by the masses, but that doesnt mean they are necessarily loved. the masses will be just as entertained in your destruction as much as your craft. it really doesn’t matter, as long as they are entertained

When Katy said “you boutta show them right?” and that white boy started swinging his arms around like a m*****, I lost it.

“Hello Lana, this is SNL. We’re going to need you to return that Worst Performance Ever Award. Yes…Yes we need it for someone else. “

She has always been this basic and it was clear someone with her “talent” was not going to pfucking outlast people like the ones crazy and superficial pop fans were mentioning as examples of artist she had “ended” LOL Apart from that, I actually appreciate the message in Chained to the Rythm. Although I´m not sure if I understand the message in the way she does. That´s something I can appreciate from Mylie Cyrus (ugh, basic talent wise yes, I know): that she definitely is social concious for real. Same with Sia. They see teh whole picture, and seem to be actually intelligent.

Your comments are always very astute and well-reasoned. And I agree, I think people are waking up to musical mediocrity and to the fact that these “performers” are light years behind the big names of the 80s and 90s.

Can’t lie, that was atrocious.., Katy has never been a great or even good performer and has always needed gimmicks and costumes. A consistent pop writer yes but streaming has put the focus back on artists who are genuinely interesting, creative and talented. I actually like Bon Appetit but I can see why the masses have grown tired of basic pop stars. Katy is sensible for taking that X Factor cheque as she’ll at least end this era in the black financially but I think her brand of ‘act’ has had it’s moment in the sunshine.
