Lady Gaga Asks Black Community For Advice On Combatting Racism

Published: Tuesday 15th Aug 2017 by Sam

Lady Gaga has long been an advocate for equality.

As such, it’s little surprise that the ‘Born This Way’ singer is speaking up and out following the shocking white supremacist violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.

In the wake of the incident (which left an innocent woman dead), America has been engaged in ample race debate. Particularly after President Donald Trump failed to explicitly stress that carnage was caused by white supremacists and neo-Nazi groups.

Hoping to bring about greater understanding with a view for change, Gaga took to Twitter moments ago to pose a question to the Black community.

Her words below…

What’s your response to her question?

    lol

    • Yolanda August 15, 2017

Okay???? Render your “white” privileges Lady Gaga!!

      • Denise August 15, 2017

Right. Or she can go do her research and figure out what the non-racist whites in the 1960’s did to support the Civil Rights movement. It’s somewhat patronizing to black people to ask such a loaded question about “influencing a country” that elected Trump as its president. There are so many resources at her disposal to become informed and active in the fight against racism and white supremacy. In a time when black people’s lives are on the line, black people do not have the time to educate white people about what they can do to with their white privilege.

  2. S****** Blonde August 15, 2017

    She’s doing the most…..As always.

  3. Yolanda August 15, 2017

Nothing. Blacks did not start racism and we cannot end it. White privilege is what causes racism. What white privilege are you willing to render? Are you willing to say no to huge sold out tours until black artists receive the same privilege from their label, i.e., Lauryn Hill? Are you willing to turn down a job offering if you know that a black person was more qualified and did not get the job. These are the things you can do to stop racism.

    • Truth Serum August 15, 2017

Lauryn is a bad example to use….

    • S****** Blonde August 15, 2017

You are asking people to sacrifice themselves for strangers, to let opportunities go. A person won’t refuse a job just because he knows the other candidates are more qualified than them, it’s about what is more convenient for you, this applies to both blacks and whites.

  4. DanYiel Iman August 15, 2017

WHITE PRIVILEGE is what is holding most people of color back!! 2 acts can sing the same song & the Caucasian act will get more purchases (IE )Jasmine Sullivan~>Adele ….??‍♂️

    • S****** Blonde August 15, 2017

But nobody forces people to buy white people’s music, especially when many black people support white artists.

      • Fancy BISH August 15, 2017

And many white artists flop lol….Michael Jackson has the best selling album of all time, produced by a black man….everybody and their grandma ? bought it! Ain’t nobody topping it ever in life…except another black artist if it ever happens again! Peace, love ❤️ and hair grease lol

      • S****** Blonde August 15, 2017

        That proves my point.

      • Fancy BISH August 15, 2017

        Exactly, I agree with you

I’m sooo tired of trying to break things down for these white folks. There are many truths in Black history that only black people are privy to…mainly because white people wish to deny their own atrocities or those of their ancestors while enjoying the white privilege and advantages that are a result of those atrocities. Therefore, they omit their own inequities in history. As a result, people of color are forced to share their stories and history in private lest they be ridiculed by narrow minded people who refuse to believe anything that was not taught to them by those who rule the land and write the history. Black Friday and picnics are just two of those truths rooted in slavery.

    • Fancy BISH August 15, 2017

      Your comment is everything!

    • Tim Brown August 15, 2017

      This

    • Shaquiiii August 16, 2017

So what are these stories? (genuine question) She is asking for you to tell her, because she was brainwashed by white history. I’m asking because you said; “There are many truths in Black history that only black people are privy to”, she’s white, so she’s not privy to these stories i.e she’s not going to know them.

      • We are the grandchildren of the slaves you couldn’t kill – tyler August 16, 2017

Shut the f*** up and pick up a book. The mind is a terrible thing to waste

Your previous comment said “There are many truths in Black history that only black people are privy to”…This statement lead me to believe it would be in a book. Extreme aggression won’t get you anywhere. Especially from people outside of the U.S.A, which is where I am from.

  6. Achooo! August 15, 2017

Lady Gaga in order to combat racism we have to have the conversation at the table with facts. Many people are uneducated in history or refuse to understand the truth even if it’s proven. Race is a man made concept to divide/conquer and has been a major influence since the 1600s. America land has been stolen from the natives and the concept of race were instill to ensure the minority will always be oppressed. Blacks are the originals of the human species. Blacks is the creator of all races this is a fact. More specifically when the dark Africans birth the genetic mutated whites. The Africans deem the genetic mutation as evil/curse and many whites were killed or sent away. Many whites know this history and found a way to punish the creator “black” forever. The cut runs deep.

    • Shaquiiii August 16, 2017

This is actually bullish*t. No scientific evidence to prove this theory. You wrote this on a previous story too.

  7. …I HATE WHITE B******. …and. BLACK B******. …both not s***… August 15, 2017

Lady gaga should ask God this question. …wow black people are like the celebrity of the human race

  8. We are the grandchildren of the slaves you couldn’t kill – tyler August 15, 2017

How are black people suppose to fix a system that we didn’t create??

    • Brian August 15, 2017

She is not asking how can we fix it, she is asking how can non racist white people help? As in, what can she and people like her best do to contribute to the cause. This is not a time to tear her down, we need more whites to ask this question and we need to answer

      • We are the grandchildren of the slaves you couldn’t kill – tyler August 15, 2017

The fact that she has to “ask non racist white people how they can help” is a f****** joke lmao. Why ask us when all of this is really a consequence of the actions of YOUR forefathers? I wish you passive aggressive “non racist whites” would stop discussing racial issues, because your views on the matter come across like privileged white children who are sooo vastly unaware

    • Shaquiiii August 16, 2017

      So she should do nothing?

      • We are the grandchildren of the slaves you couldn’t kill – tyler August 16, 2017

No , b**** you should do something. Stop turning a blind eye and make yourself useful.

      • Shaquiiii August 17, 2017

@We are the grandchildren of the slaves you couldn’t kill – tyler

Mmm, okay. You don’t know what I do, or where I come from. Maybe you should do something other than abuse people.

  9. Naïme August 15, 2017

It is crazy how stupid she can sound. First of all, why she should ask black people something they didn’t start ? Following her stupid logic, why doesn’t she include middle eastern, asian or Latino people in her definition of “racism”. That b**** is really living on another planet.

    • Mateo August 15, 2017

Wow you are about as dumb as they come aren’t you?! Black people really need to get it together! Here is a white women with a huge white fan base and following that is putting herself out there and asking how she can HELP and all you can do is tear her down? No wonder why you guys are losing the race war, fighting your own allies? Idiots! I’m Latino and I’m glad a superstar white woman is asking these questions!

      • We are the grandchildren of the slaves you couldn’t kill – tyler August 15, 2017

LATINO?? Honey, there’s a new sheriff in town and his name is Donald Trump. So I suggest that you get your s*** together. Blacks are the last group of people that you need to be mad at. We aren’t responsible for the injusices that you face. THEY ARE! Wake tf up

      • Naïme August 15, 2017

B**** bye ! Asking this question is as stupid as you are. What about acting instead of doing the most and trying to look nice and so caring towards black people? Here is a scoop for you dumbass : she doesn’t give a f***! She is the fakest b**** in the business and she will do anything for attention.

  10. Fancy BISH August 15, 2017

We’re so smart, intelligent, cool, bootylicious, swaggerlicious, ground-breaking, FOUNDATION LAYING, revolutionary, amazing…we built Wall Street..we built New York…we built America…of course America isn’t too shabby…CAUSE WE BUILT IT BISH lol…you don’t see the White House falling apart cause we built that too…we built D.C.! Funny how initially there were plans to get European labor for the construction of D.C., but that fell through lol…it’s awesome and crazy at the same time how we STILL were excellent even as slaves…that’s cause we ARE excellent…we could have put Shug Avery pee into the food during slavery, but (for the most part lol) we didn’t…there once was a law in NYC that blacks couldn’t congregate in groups of three or more…interesting how they knew to divide us cause there’s always strength in numbers…now brown people are building this country…doing an EXCELLENT job…the person who builds it understands it! And can take it apart and build it again!

  11. Yolanda August 15, 2017

Okay guys, let’s tell Lady Gaga something she can swallow. Lady Gaga, that’s all you have to do is have s** with a black man and give birth to a biracial baby and then WHA-LA, racism is over.

  12. Walter White August 15, 2017

Wow. I am not even a fan of lady gaga, but I need to say something about this. The majority of these comments are absolutely ridiculous. Clearly she is trying to help because she is disgusted by the racism in this country like many other people of all races. If you feel like her comment is “stupid” or “uneducated,” then kindly educate her, especially because that is what she is asking for by posting this tweet. I’m sure that she realizes that whites are responsible for racism. Bringing down a white woman who is CLEARLY on the side of equality is not going to help anything.

  13. Jay August 15, 2017

Leave our culture alone. Stop stealing our music, our art, our dance, our pain, our struggle for your gain. If you want to help. Support Colin. Support our poor schools, help get us jobs,
Speak to European white authority in our communities, stop using us, realize your privilege and actually say it an stop acting like we are lying.

  14. Thebaddest August 15, 2017

It starts with building out own black networks, She supporting black business and reaching as many black communities out there. We need to be resourceful where are communities get their content. As black people we need to move in our own direction, even strategically to focus on community development and resourceful financial gain. She needs to stand for the new United World.

  15. bj August 17, 2017

hire black people. support black owned businesses. support black and female politicians. offer transportation assistance to poor people during elections. hire lobbyists to aid communities whose civil rights are being violated or are in jeopardy. inform\chastise racists\misogynists\homophobes when they misbehave in your presence.

  16. RONALD January 6, 2018

Stop quoting Malcolm X if you don’t know his future statement he made later about the female college student who asked him the question about what role she could play in the struggle. Malcolm later stated he regretted that past comment. Speaking at Oxford a few months before his death, Malcolm stated he was would work with anyone regardless of color to fix this sick world. Some of the comments are based upon being ignorant. Others know better but choose to be ignorant. Nelson Mandala and the ANC had white comrades, The Black Panther Party formed Alliances with whites. Remember an Uncle Tom informed on Nat Turner, Fred Hampton etc. I’m 67 years old and have been informed in struggle since I was fifteen. She asked a serious question which requires serious thought and answers.
