New Video: En Vogue – ‘Rocket’

Published: Monday 22nd Jan 2018 by Sam

It’s lift off for R&B icons EnVogue and their new single ‘Rocket.’

The track is the lead offering from the trio’s upcoming album ‘Electric Cafe’ – due March 30th.

Already off to a solid start, the song is the most added release at Urban A/C radio.

Speaking on the clip, which was directed by Damien Sandoval, the group collectively said:

“It was really exciting shooting the ‘Rocket’ video…perfect theme to enhance the song. The look is futuristic meets sexy…a step into the future. It’s such a pleasure working with a director that’s not afraid to come up with a concept that’s outside of the box and pays tribute to the music.”

Check it out below…

Cute.

    The video is alright

    • ? + ✈ = ? January 22, 2018

I’m here for the song, video and their image. They fully shhiitted on TLC’s comeback, especially their visuals.

      • Caleb January 23, 2018

Leave TLC out of this. They put on a great concert.

YAAAASSSSS for space on a budget!

    • Jay Truth January 22, 2018

      ???

  3. Da January 22, 2018

    I like it?

  4. 4U2SEE January 22, 2018

    I like it, Thank you.

  5. stan January 22, 2018

    it’s surprisingly decent

  6. HOWYOULIKEIT January 22, 2018

Is that Cindy singing the 2nd verse? I recognise her voice but she looks very different

    • MusicLovah January 22, 2018

Yes that’s her. I love her voice. As for her looks, I think she has aged gracefully. Additionally, she is very health cautious.

  7. DanYiel Iman January 22, 2018

I actually like this track!! I’m still for the original En Vogue though…✌??

  8. MusicLovah January 22, 2018

Let it be noted, my favorite group of ALL time. My first musical love, the incomparable En Vogue. The vocal blend of the original members set the bar, and has yet to be match.

Having said that, I am happy with THIS track considering some of the other lead single attempts. As I checked for any vocals diminishing, ..[cause hey let’s face it, although the 1990s era served some great artist, some of our most popular vocalist’s voice has NOT stood the test time, especially in comparison to when Patti, Luther and Gladys was that same age]…but any rates. This track does not indicate significant vocal whittling. They did much in masking it. Cindy’s voice to me..is just one the BEST pop sounding vocals of ever. She is the secret sauce in their impressive harmonies and I love to hear it upfront and center. But good track..good video for indie artist..and i long for a reunion!!

  9. Trose January 22, 2018

I thought the video was great they still kept their funky divas style I think the song is a little bland tho…i need something more sassy and akin to “riddle” now that was en vogue in rare urban contemporary form and I was here for it even though the G.P wasn’t. Video was HOT.

  10. MUSICHEAD January 22, 2018

Great video! Very impressive compared to their previous efforts since 1999. Good job ladies!

  11. RoyalKev January 22, 2018

I want to remain loyal to the original EnVogue I’ve come to love, but these ladies got me with this video! The reason why I’ve always wanted an EnVogue reunion is because they’re one of those groups that will always come through! They pay attention to the details (style, vocals, presence, elegance)! They’re diva touch is still very grand and effortlessly regal! Some of the real legends just have it for life! Just like Toni never loses her class/sophistication, Tina – her sass, Diana – her glamour, Aretha – her rawness, Sade/Anita – charm and while Janet always innovates/commands a stage … EnVogue is synonymous with perfection! I’ve actually enjoyed this effort put forth at this stage of their careers! Well done!

    • @Nate January 22, 2018

This write up tho! So true. Love envogue so much, I just wish Dawn & Max were there-omit Rhonda. No dig to Rhonda, homegirl can sing… But envogue wasnt just a bunch a girls who all could sing, it was the blend of the 4. Each girl had a tone from a different era/genre, so it always sounded big & epic. Listen to Dont let go Love, on that hook it sounded like a whole choir behind them….Nah, just the blend of those 4 girls. They need that now.

      • RoyalKev January 22, 2018

Right! I feel like it’s a task for me to fully accept Rhonda! Are we even writing her name correctly? I know some things you have to get over, but like you’ve stated, EnVogue wasn’t a batch of girls thrown together! In my mind, there’s only one EnVogue… If you are fully aware of what made them great! For now, I’ll accept this offering as the first to come along from this trio that managed to make me get lost in the music without wondering where Max and Dawn would come in!

    • Keith January 22, 2018

RoyalKev, i love your commentary and you were spot on this time! Ive been grappling with my own acceptance of *this* En Vogue for awhile now. I will admit, though, this song got me when it hit in December and the video just took it up a few notches. The future on a budget, baby!!!! Hopefully this cut will get some traction on UAC radio….

      • RoyalKev January 23, 2018

Thanks! AC should be all over this one! I love when artists can pull off impressive visuals that’s budget friendly! When they don’t rely on all the fancy distractions, it proves just how much of naturally, captivating talent the artist is!

  12. G7Pat January 22, 2018

Cute. This would actually make a buzz if all originals were in the video

    • RoyalKev January 22, 2018

      Riiiight!

  13. eric January 22, 2018

I’m glad most people seem to like it. I want to feel that way too, but this song is really lacking something. It needs more soul and deeper vocals.

  14. Myles January 22, 2018

I actually like it?❤️ I just wish it was all the original 4 members of the group was in it but the song is dope and beautiful ?

  15. xedos January 22, 2018

    It’s not envogue with Dawn

  16. Chileplease (the first and only bih) January 22, 2018

    Janet should’ve sang this

    • ? + ✈ = ? January 22, 2018

      Do you like whispering

      • eric January 22, 2018

Ask the fans who made Janet’s Unbreakable album #1 on five different Billboard charts if her voice is a problem. I for one love the softness of her voice, and apparently millions of others do too.

      • ? + ✈ = ? January 22, 2018

That aint difficult Camilla just went number 1 boo.

      • Jasmine January 23, 2018

Yes Janet fans LOVE her whispering. Nice try at hating but just because you don’t like someone’s singing style does not mean other people don’t like it. Respect Mrs. Janet’s artistry nasty! She is legendary.

      • RoyalKev January 23, 2018

… but will Camilla do it again 29 years later?

      • John L. Anderson V January 23, 2018

        @RoyalKev ooops ☕️

  17. Jasmine January 23, 2018

Something is missing…Dawn and Max. Without them the group just flops (literally). The other women are talented but they are missing the signature En Vogue sound that cannot be replicated without Dawn and Max.

  18. Barbara ‘Hunnychile’ Perez January 23, 2018

Didn’t expect to but I love it, excited for the album.

  19. Coko January 23, 2018

whats its gonna be cos i cant pretend… i need all 4 girls that made EV… so hold me tight and come back home, dawn and max did lose control now come back home!!!!!

  20. Jasmine Leilani January 23, 2018

Dawn and Maxine lost a nasty legal custody battle with Cindy and Terry. There’s no going back. Yall idiots need to shut the F up and and appreciate the continued hard work Cindy & terry brings to the table.

    • jamie baxter April 9, 2018

YES!! The hard work, dedication and faith-based efforts Cindy, Terry and Rhona have put in to keep En Vogue relevant and in existence for all these years is always overlooked, *SIGH*!! People should be thanking them for all they’ve done, but all they get is “it ain’t the original four”, “it’s not En Vogue without this chicken head or that one!”, “they don’t sound the same!”, please!! Pay respect to hard work and dedication, people!!
