Mario Announces New Album ‘Dancing Shadows’ / Premieres Video For Title Track

Published: Saturday 15th Sep 2018 by Sam

Mario is mapping out his next musical chapter.

Fresh from joining FOX smash ‘Empire,’ the R&B maestro has announced brand new album ‘Dancing Shadows.’

Set for release October 5th via his own label New Citizen, the LP is preceded by Urban AC hit ‘Drowning’ and now its title track.

Recorded in London and executive produced by Jake Gosling (Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, Daft Punk), the scintillating jam sees the 32-year-old fuse his trademark R&B rooting with “expansive electronic soundscapes.”

For its accompanying visual, Mario teamed up with Gaga’s creative director / choreographer Richy Jackson.

Speaking on the pairing he said:

“I wanted to do something that I hadn’t done before and Richy was the man to bring that vision to life. We came up with a concept that was sexy and powerful, just like the song.”

Simple, yet effective. We like. Do you?

Big fan here, but this is one of my all-time least favorite songs from Mario, and it being the title song makes me wonder if this will be a good album. I’m not crazy about “Drowning” either. “Let Me Help You” was more in his lane and showed more craft vocally and sonically. I know he’s already scratched two albums and it’s time to get something out, but I don’t think everything will align the way it needs to be by October 5.

Not really into this track, but love drowning and excited he’s finally putting out another album. He should have put some features on it though.
