Sunday night’s Grammy Awards were not short on controversy. Indeed, between Macklemore‘s multiple wins, Kendrick Lamar‘s shut-out, and Beyonce‘s racy display, the show continues to dominate headlines two days removed.
It’s a trend that looks set to continue – courtesy of soulful singer India.Arie.
The 38-year-old has penned an “open letter” relaying her frustration with the lack of Grammy love directed towards Hip-Hop and R&B artists; something she suggests is soaked in racism.
India’s words after the jump…

With fans sounding off on the 2014 Grammy nominations’ snubs and surprises, the artists themselves have taken to social media all weekend long to lend their sought opinions on the tally.
Much to the dismay of fans, acts like Mariah Carey, Brandy, Ariana Grande, Ciara and Lady Gaga all saw their names omitted from the prospect of hearing the applause, applause, applause of Grammy audience members for their work(s) of the past year. As of time reporting, some have kept mum on the topics while – as previously reported – Ciara and K. Michelle have weighed in.
See what everyone else had to say about their nominations and/or non-nominations:

Ever keen on keeping the masses abreast of fresh and/or often underrated talent, That Grape Juice presents ‘The Spill’ – a renewed look at not-so-new, yet active, acts.
Much like its ‘Freshly Squeezed’ sister segment, this revived assay aims to put the magnifying glass on talents who may not appeal to the buying public on a broad scale yet are still serving material that could easily spin side-by-side with some of today’s top hits.
Covering a kaleidoscope of genres, ‘The Spill’ is set to feature some names you probably know and love as well as some you’ll (soon) be glad to know. Click below to find out the spill on TGT, Rico Love, Dionne Warwick, India Arie, August Alsina, Jessie J & Robin Thicke, Elle Varner and much more…

Singing sensation Ariana Grande has undoubtedly been a breath of fresh air for 2013′s pop music lovers. A welcomed departure from EDM and the dearth of talent plaguing the day’s charts and radio alike, the pop princess has taken the genre by storm with a #1 album and top-selling singles to her credit.
Immediately drawing comparisons to an early 90s Mariah Carey, the up-and-comer has polarized Carey’s fans (affectionately called Lambs) for what some of them feel is a blatant duplication of the diva’s singing style.
Those fans’ anger grew to new heights today when Grande took to Billboard.com to list in grand style an homage to her top 5 favorite female vocalists. Praising the likes of Whitney Houston and Brandy, there’s one name that, to the surprise of some, didn’t quite make the cut…

Fresh from her #1 debut album, ‘Baby I’ beauty Ariana Grande gifted her fans with yet another cover of one of her favorite numbers.
Taking a page from her “fairy godmother” India Arie‘s #1 album ‘Testimony: Vol. 1, Life & Relationships’ (2006), the 20-year-old powerhouse songstress took to fan favorite ‘Private Party’ to offer a new take on the tune.

It’s been over 10 years since Grammy-winning #Soulbird India.Arie flew onto the scene with her debut album ‘Acoustic Soul’.
Since then, Arie has remained an anomaly – staying afloat on the wings of spiritually-tinged tunes like ‘Ready For Love’, ‘I Am Not My Hair’, and ‘Video’, her poetry-laced, guitar guided offerings kept her perched atop R&B and pop charts alike until the late 2000s when suddenly she was nowhere to be found.
Now, 2013 has brought with it a renewed voyage for India – one she shared openly when chatting exclusively with That Grape Juice recently. The songstress dishes on her new album ‘Songversation’, those skin bleaching rumors, her open letter slamming the Zoe Saldana casting of Nina Simone in an upcoming biopic, and so much more.
As ever, we ask the questions you want the answer to. Tuck in below for the full view:

This time, for the last song on the album- ‘I Am Light’. Moving and inspirational without ever feeling cliche, make this the one song you listen to if you don’t decide to pick up the album.
However, if you’re anything like us, you may find that a little hard to do once you hear what’s waiting for you below.
